OBJECTIVE: To report the short- to intermediate-term experience of using salvage targeted cryoablation of the prostate (TCAP) for the recurrence of localized prostate cancer after radiotherapy.

BACKGROUND: Retro- or peribulbar anaesthesia are the standard procedures for cyclodestructive surgery. PURPOSE: To estimate the incidence of retinopathy of prematurity and other ocular problems in a population of preterm infants.
METHODS: This retrospective study included all infants with gestational age (GA) <32 weeks and birth weight (BW) <1500 g cared for in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) over a period of nine years (1992-2000). Ophthalmological examination was started the 4th week of life and included refractive examination, examination of the cornea and funduscopy under mydriasis. PURPOSE: To investigate physiological and histologic alterations of the cat eye in response to cyclocryotherapy (CCT) and noncontact transscleral Nd:YAG laser cyclophotocoagulation (TSNYC).
METHODS: One eye of 29 cats was treated with 12 applications (1 minute, -80 degrees C) of CCT or 80 applications of noncontact TSNYC (7 to 9 J, retrofocus 3.6 mm). Data concerning observation of 40 pre-term infants referred to the Copenhagen University eye clinic 1986-91 for evaluation of ROP, predominantly of advanced stages, have been analysed. The article deals with the modern approaches to the treatment of supraventricular tachycardia . The authors analyse the results of operations in ectopic atrial tachycardias, the Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome, modal re-entry tachycardias, and atrial fibrillation . The last-named is of most interest because the authors possess experience in a new operation for isolation of the internodal tracts. In all conditions the authors obtained convincing evidence on the efficacy of modern surgical treatment in supraventricular tachycardias.

The three classical angiomatoses of the retina are described on the basis of the clinical picture. If early diagnosis is possible, the otherwise inevitable progression to exudative retinal detachment and secondary glaucoma may be avoided through extensive coagulation by laser, xenon or cryopexy. - The prognosis is best in Leber's retinitis; it in much poorer in cases of von Hippel-Lindau angiomatosis and primary Coats' disease.

Cyclocryotherapy in the treatment of aphakic open-angle glaucoma (AO), aphakic angle-closure glaucoma (ACL), and neovascular glaucoma (NVG) was evaluated in 96 eyes of 96 patients. All patients had follow-up of greater than 12 months, with a mean of 29.0 +/- 2.1 months (+/- SEM). Two hundred seventy-nine patients with cervical condylomas or cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) were treated as outpatients with cryotherapy.
