BACKGROUND: gamma/delta T-cell receptor (TCR)+ dendritic epidermal T cells (DETC) are part of a primitive defense system in the skin; they are capable of responding only to a limited number of antigens. The aim of the present study was to test whether DETC can proliferate in vitro in response to antigens of Mycobacterium leprae.

BACKGROUND: Patients with curatively resected colorectal cancer hepatic metastases often harbor occult metastatic disease and are at high risk of experiencing recurrence. This patient cohort is ideally suited to test novel therapies such as immunotherapy. The bovine milk fat globule membrane (MFGM) contains several antimicrobial components with proven efficacy in vitro, but in vivo evidence is scarce.
