Primary effusion lymphoma (PEL) is a new lymphoma entity occurring predominantly, but not exclusively in HIV+ patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). PEL grows exclusively in body cavities as serous lymphomatous effusion without evidence of mass disease or dissemination.
