Adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC) is a rare malignancy with poor prognosis. Palliative chemotherapy can be considered in patients with metastatic disease. Although mitotane- or cisplatin-based chemotherapy regimens are widely used, the effects of these agents have been limited. We have experienced a case that showed a partial response with sunitinib after failure of mitotane-based cytotoxic chemotherapy. The clinical benefit from sunitinib persisted 7.5 months in this case. To our knowledge, this is the first reported case showing the effects of sunitinib on metastatic ACC.

A 46-year-old man presented with a huge splenic artery dissecting aneurysm that had been incidentally found and was successfully resected before rupture. The histopathologic findings were compatible with segmental mediolytic arteriopathy (SMA). Simultaneous involvement of the left renal and right common iliac artery was observed. The patient was also found to have an adrenocortical adenoma, gastrointestinal stromal tumor, hepatocellular carcinoma and schizophrenia. The relationship between SMA and other accompanying diseases was discussed.

BACKGROUND: Interstitial pneumonitis has not been reported as a toxicity of docetaxel. The authors report the presentation and natural history of four patients who developed a severe interstitial pneumonitis after receiving docetaxel.

Adequate therapeutic management of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL) requires the identification of the exact CTCL stage and entity within the current WHO classification. BACKGROUND: The 7th AJCC T-stage system for adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC), based on size and extra-adrenal invasion, does not adequately stratify patients by survival. Lymphovascular invasion (LVI) is a known poor prognostic factor. We propose a novel T-stage system that incorporates LVI to better risk-stratify patients undergoing resection for ACC.

A variety of different non-mesenchymal neoplasms may mimic sarcoma, in particular sarcomatoid carcinoma and melanoma, but also mesothelioma and rarely some lymphomas. This article reviews the key clinical and histologic features of such neoplasms in different settings, along with the use of ancillary studies to help identify the tumor types most frequently misdiagnosed as sarcoma.

Thyroid metastasis are rare and represent less than 4% of malignant thyroid tumors in clinical series. They can develop many years after diagnosis of the primary tumor. We report a case of thyroid metastasis of adrenocortical carcinoma, 41 years after the diagnosis of the primary tumor. Such a long latent interval is exceptional. To our knowledge, this is the first case published. Based on current literature, we offer a brief review on thyroid metastasis and differential diagnosis of thyroid gland clear cell neoplasm.

PURPOSE: To investigate risk factors for complications in patients undergoing adrenalectomy.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: A retrospective search of our institutional database was performed of patients who underwent adrenalectomy, between 2014 and 2018. Clinical parameters and adrenal disorder characteristics were assessed and correlated to intra and post-operative course. Complications were analyzed within 30-days after surgery. A logistic regression was performed in order to identify independent predictors of morbidity in patients after adrenalectomy.
