The isolated perfused working rat heart preparation has been used to study the effects of respiratory acidosis on myocardial metabolism and contractilly. Hearts were perfused with 5 mM glucose and 10(-2) U/ml of insulin in order to enhance metabolsim of glucose relative to that of fatty acids. OBJECTIVE: To describe an expanded phenotypic spectrum and longitudinal outcome in 256 LGI1-IgG-seropositive and/or CASPR2-IgG-seropositive patients.
METHODS: Patients were identified through service neural autoantibody evaluation. Ninety-five had longitudinal follow-up (7-456 months; median = 35).

Gap junction (GJ) channels composed of Connexin36 (Cx36) are widely expressed in the mammalian CNS and form electrical synapses between neurons. Here we describe a novel modulatory mechanism of Cx36 GJ channels dependent on intracellular free magnesium ([Mg(2+)]i). PURPOSE: To investigate the mechanisms and pathways of X-ray apoptosis in Molt-4 cells, focusing on mitochondrial and cytosolic Ca2+ ([Ca2+]i) regulation.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: X-irradiated Molt-4 cells and cell extract (CE) were used to analyse: (1) induced apoptosis (Giemsa stain), (2) p53, Bcl-2 and Bax expressions (immunoblot), (3) mitochondrial potential deltapsi(m) and (4) [Ca2+]i (flow cytometry), (5) caspase-3 activity, and (6) roles of [Ca2+]- and caspase-3-mediated pathways by inhibiting either or both pathways for induced apoptosis.
