BackgroundCoronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) is associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Traditional risk scores, such as the Society of Thoracic Surgery (STS) and EuroSCORE II, have limitations in predicting outcomes, particularly in high-risk patients. Machine learning (ML) models may address these issues by detecting nuanced data patterns not captured by conventional methods. This systematic review and meta-analysis compared the efficacy of ML models with traditional risk scores in predicting outcomes after CABG.MethodsA comprehensive literature search of records up to Augus

BACKGROUND: Motor vehicle collisions (MVCs) are a significant public health challenge, resulting in substantial mortality and morbidity. Entrapment occurs in 12-33% of all MVCs and is associated with greater injury severity, longer on-scene time, and increased mortality. However, the psychological consequences of entrapment remain poorly characterised.
OBJECTIVES: This scoping review seeks to establish the current understanding of the psychological sequelae of entrapment following MVCs and draws on insights from related fields of study in order to inform future research and clinical practice.

BACKGROUND: Differences in staffing, clinical supervision, emergency preparedness, and the organization of services outside normal working hours may be related to variations in perinatal outcomes for off-hours and weekend deliveries. Evidence from Africa is sparse and conflicting, with some studies reporting increased neonatal morbidity or mortality for births occurring at nighttime/off-hours or weekends while others have reported no significant differences. Hence, this systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to estimate the association between nighttime/off-hours or weekend births and adver

INTRODUCTION: N-acetylcysteine (NAC) is used in small-animal medicine as an antidote, mucolytic, thiol donor, and cytoprotective adjunct, yet its evidentiary basis varies markedly among indications and between dogs and cats. We systematically evaluated species-specific pharmacokinetic, clinical, experimental, and in vitro evidence to distinguish established uses from extrapolated practice.
METHODS: A 104-record legacy evidence library was re-screened, and an update search of PubMed/MEDLINE, Europe PMC, Crossref-resolved publisher records, Google Scholar, selected Hungarian databases and journ

BACKGROUND: Depression is the most common mental health disorder among the older populations, leading to a higher reduction in quality of life and an increased financial burden on the health care system. One promising non-pharmacological approach for improving mental health in older adults is the use of art-based interventions.
METHODS: This systematic review and meta-analysis followed PRISMA guidelines. Eligible randomized controlled trials (RCTs) examined any form of art intervention (including music, dance, and visual arts) targeting depression in adults aged > 55 years. Databases searched

Laparoscopic bariatric surgery is associated with specific analgesic challenges because opioid-related adverse effects may be especially relevant in patients with obesity, obstructive sleep apnea, and cardiometabolic comorbidities. Inadequate perioperative analgesia in this population may impair early mobilization and functional recovery, while excessive opioid use increases the risk of respiratory depression, postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV), and prolonged hospital stay. This narrative review synthesizes and critically appraises contemporary evidence on intravenous lidocaine, dexmedet

BACKGROUND: Osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) is a rare genetic disorder characterized by bone fragility and severe spinal deformities, with scoliosis affecting up to 80% of patients and often progressing despite bracing. Surgical management is challenging due to poor bone quality and high complication risk. Advances in pedicle screw-based constructs and multimodal strategies, including traction and bisphosphonates, have improved outcomes and enabled the successful correction of deformities. This review analyzes radiographic and surgical results of modern posterior spinal fusion (PSF) in OI-associa

INTRODUCTION: Malignant biliary obstruction (MBO) is a common complication of pancreaticobiliary and periampullary malignancies and is associated with substantial morbidity and reduced survival. Multiple biliary drainage strategies are available, including endoscopic, percutaneous and surgical approaches, as well as adjunctive therapies. However, direct head-to-head comparisons remain limited, and the relative effectiveness and safety of these interventions are not well established. This study aims to compare the effectiveness and safety of different biliary drainage strategies for MBO using a
