OBJECTIVE: To describe management of vaginal mesh erosion following transvaginal repair of acystocele by placement of a polypropylene mesh.
MATERIALS AND METHOD: Retrospective analysis of 34 consecutive cases of vaginal mesh erosion following transvaginal repair of cystocele using synthetic mesh (Gynemesh or Gynemesh-Soft). We have analyzed the results of both medical and surgical management of this complication. Furthermore, we also assessed sexual and urinary morbidity in women with mesh erosion (n = 34) and in women who had undergone the same procedure but without mesh erosion (n = 111).

Polypropylene mesh is the most commonly used mesh for open and laparoscopic hernia repair in the United States. A variety of newly developed polyester mesh products have recently become available. This is the first U.S. multiinstitutional study evaluating the initial experience of polyester mesh use for total extraperitoneal (TEP) laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair. Phase variation of type 1 pili (fimbriae) was studied during the in vivo growth of Escherichia coli in two animal models. PURPOSE: To report the initial experience of a modified intraocular lens (IOL) scleral fixation technique using 6/0 prolene in a double-flanged sutureless technique with a 27-gauge needle.
METHODS: Twenty-nine consecutive patients with IOL surgery were retrospectively reviewed between December 2021 and October 2023. Early Treatment Diabetic Retinopathy Study letters, spherical equivalent (SE), astigmatism axial degree, and intraocular pressure were evaluated at baseline and 1, 2, 3, and 6 months postoperatively. PURPOSE:: To investigate whether there is a difference between Marlex(r) and Dynamesh PP-light Marlex(r) meshes, in the abdominal wall defect correction, on rats in contaminated surgical site.
METHODS:: Twenty-eight Wistar rats were divided into two groups of 14, and four subgroups of seven animals. All subgroups underwent similar surgical procedure. One group received the mesh Marlex(r) and the other Dynamesh PP-light(r) for correction of the defect. Before implanting, the meshes went through a contamination process, on which was used standard solution containing 10 UFC of Escherichia coli.
