OBJECTIVE: To investigate the renoprotective effect of nicardipine in patients with pre-existing renal insufficiency undergoing robot-assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy (RALRP).
METHODS: Men with preoperative renal insufficiency (estimated glomerular filtration rate [eGFR] <60 ml/min per 1.73 m(2)) were enrolled and randomized to receive either 0.5 µg/kg per min nicardipine continuous infusion (nicardipine group) or normal saline (control group) during RALRP.
