Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor(IMT) is an uncommon soft tissue neoplasm rarely reported in the urinary tract. A 54-year-old male presented to our institution with low back and abdominal pain, hematuria, and lower urinary tract symptoms for 2 months. We performed abdominal contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), which showed a mass in the right renal pelvis-inferior calyx. Then, we performed the laparoscopic radical nephroureterectomy.

Zollinger Ellison syndrome is an unusual entity. This termn is used to describe the clinical manifestations of a gastrin-synthesizing neoplasm. Gastrinomas occur mainly in the duodenum and pancreas. Primary gastrinomas are rarely found in other intra-abdominal sites, such as the ovary, bile ducts, spleen or kidney, or even more unusual in extra-abdominal locations. Several studies provide strong evidence that gastrinomas can also occur in the lymph nodes. However, the existence of primary lymph node gastrinomas is controversial.

A 78-year-old man who underwent right nephrectomy for renal cell carcinoma (RCC) 18 years ago visited our hospital complaining of abdominal pain. Imaging revealed that the pancreatic head tumor obstructed the Santorini duct. We suspected a pancreatic intraductal tumor, such as an intraductal tubulopapillary neoplasm or intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm. Thus, the patient underwent subtotal stomach-preserving pancreaticoduodenectomy. Pathological findings confirmed the diagnosis of metastatic RCC. Herein, we report a case of pancreatic metastasis of an RCC that presented with a tumor in t

PURPOSE: To present our experience in abdominal transplantations to manage unresectable abdominal neoplasms in children and to describe the role of extensive surgeries in such cases.
METHODS: This is a retrospective study of 22 abdominal transplantations in 21 patients for abdominal tumors over 16 years. Transplantation techniques included liver transplant (LT), multivisceral transplant (MVTx), and intestinal autotransplant (IA). Follow-up intervals ranged from 0.3 to 168 months (median 20 months).
RESULTS: LT alone was performed in 15 patients for primary malignant (11) and benign (4) liver…

A case of bilateral ovarian enlargement secondary to massive ovarian oedema with underlying intra-abdominal and pelvic fibromatosis is presented. Bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy and hysterectomy led to rapid progression of the intra-abdominal and pelvic fibromatosis, which was previously unsuspected. The case highlights the importance of recognizing massive oedema of the ovary as a distinct entity as it is a benign condition affecting young females and can be confused with ovarian neoplasm. In this case, the major morbidity was from the underlying diffuse intra-abdominal fibromatosis. Conserva

INTRODUCTION: Intussusception in adults accounts for less than 5% of all intussusceptions. It occurs when a segment of intestine invaginates into itself.
PRESENTATION OF A CASE: We report a case of ileocolic intussusception in an adult caused by a giant ileal lipoma.
DISCUSSION: Intussusceptions can be classified as ileocolic, ileocecal, colo-colic and ileo-ileal. Most are due to neoplasms (60% malign and 24-40% benign). In the colon, the possibility of malignancy is higher than in small intestine. Lipomas are the most common benign mesenchymal intestinal tumors, accounting for less than 5%

INTRODUCTION: Tumors of the ovary and appendix have been well documented in the setting of pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP) with constant debate over tumor origin. Generally, these tumors are found to have a single primary origin, most commonly the appendix, with metastatic spread to the ovaries.
CARE PRESENTATION: Here we present a 61-year-old female who underwent total abdominal hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy (TAH-BSO) for a primary mucinous ovarian carcinoma. She presented to our institution one year later with abdominal pain and a palpable right lower quadrant mass, which on

BACKGROUND: Intraductal papillary neoplasm of the bile duct is a precursor lesion of cholangiocarcinoma. We present a video of a totally laparoscopic right hepatectomy with hilar dissection and lymphadenectomy, en-bloc resection of the extrahepatic bile duct, and Roux-en-Y hepaticojejunostomy in a patient with intraductal papillary neoplasm of the right hepatic duct.
METHODS: A 58-year-old woman with right upper quadrant pain was referred for evaluation. Abdominal ultrasonography revealed dilatation of intrahepatic and extrahepatic bile ducts. Magnetic resonance imaging showed a stop in the r

Antenatally detected cystic abdominal masses in neonates pose a diagnostic challenge, particularly in female infants where ovarian pathology is common but heterogeneous. We report a term female neonate with a large intra-abdominal cyst detected antenatally and persisting postnatally. Imaging revealed a well-defined, unilocular, avascular cyst without solid components, initially suggestive of an enteric duplication cyst. Postnatal imaging was non-specific as to the origin of the lesion. Given the size and persistence of the lesion, surgical exploration was undertaken. Intraoperatively, the mass

Retroperitoneal sarcomas represent a group of rare malignant neoplasms with complex clinical management and often a poor prognosis. An elderly male presented with a slowly progressive, right-sided abdominal lump for four months associated with loss of appetite and abdominal discomfort. Abdominal examination revealed an apparent retroperitoneal lump in the right lumbar and umbilical region, which was well-defined, and firm in consistency with the bosselated surface. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CECT) of the abdomen and pelvis revealed a heterogenous lobulated malignant appearing retro

Neoplastic abdominal tumours, particularly those originating from embryonal tissue (such as hepatoblastoma and nephroblastoma) and neural crest cells (such as neuroblastoma), are well-documented in young children. Neoplasms of adulthood, most commonly carcinoma of different visceral organs, are also well-documented. Abdominal tumours in adolescence constitute a distinct pathological group. The radiological features of some of these tumours have been described only in isolated reports. The purpose of this pictorial essay was to review the imaging findings of various kinds of abdominal tumours i

The case of a 39-year-old male patient with symptoms of persistent abdominal pain and melena, affected by Henoch-Schönlein purpura, is reported. Abdominal CT was requested. The examination was justified by the fact that symptoms could be correlated with other pathological conditions (volvulus, neoplasms, Chron's disease, etc.) which had to be excluded. For optimum study of the abdominal wall, correct preparation and the use of oral contrast agents were required. From the analysis of CT findings, in particular loop thickening with stratified density, the increased density of mesenteric fat and

Stromal tumors are rare neoplasms of the small bowel that locate in Meckel's diverticulum with high preference. Perforation of those tumors is very uncommon. There are 96 cases reported in current literature, including only 6 perforations. The diagnosis of that kind of tumor is very difficult because of lack of pathognomonic signs and symptoms. The clinical presentation include abdominal pain, intestinal bleeding, abdominal mass, intestinal obstruction and less commonly, acute perforation. We report the case of a 61-years old patient with a poorly differentiated stromal tumor in a perforated M

During a two year period 901 cases were admitted and diagnosed as benign gynaecological neoplasms. Five hundred and thirty three of these (59.1 pc) were uterine fibroleiomyomata. Of these, 103 had surgery and 13 (12.6 pc) had pedunculated fibroleiomyomata presenting as a vaginal mass. Eight of the 13 cases were treated by vaginal myomectomy. Total abdominal hysterectomy was carried out in two cases because of failed vaginal myomectomy. Two others had total abdominal hysterectomy for dysfunctional uterine bleeding and for satisfied parity. One case absconded. Vaginal myomectomy should be the fi

Today CT of the pediatric chest and abdomen is an accepted and established diagnostic modality. Detection of pulmonary metastases and the staging of malignant lymphoma of the mediastinum are main indications for thoracic CT, whereas in other neoplastic mediastinal or thoracic wall lesions, which are much rarer, CT is complementary to very valuable conventional examinations. However the cross-sectional display free of superposition and the possibility of density-measurement are outstanding advantages for both thoracic and abdominal CT. Abdominal extension of malignant lymphoma is accurately det

Solid pseudopapillary neoplasms (SPNs) of the pancreas are rare tumours with distinctive clinicopathological features. We present a case of a 51-year-old female with a large cystic neoplasm involving the entire pancreas, initially presenting with abdominal pain. Diagnostic imaging revealed a well-defined heterogeneously enhancing mixed solid cystic lesion in the pancreas. Surgical exploration confirmed a lesion in the entire pancreas, prompting total pancreatectomy with duodenectomy. Postoperative histopathology and immunohistochemistry supported the diagnosis of SPN. Herein, we discuss SPN's

BACKGROUND: Solid pseudopapillary tumors (SPTs) represent one of the most uncommon histotypes of all exocrine pancreatic neoplasms.
AIM: To delineate the clinical presentation and biological behavior of SPT and evaluate the efficacy of treatment.
METHODS: Retrospective analysis of 31 patients (27 female, 4 male, mean age of 34 years, (range 7-56)) who underwent surgical resection with a definitive histological diagnosis of SPT.
RESULTS: Tumor detection was incidental in the 55% of cases. Symptoms were abdominal discomfort (n=10), jaundice (n=2), weight loss (n=6), vomiting (n=5), and a palp

INTRODUCTION: Gastrointestinal metastases from pulmonary neoplasm represent a rare but potentially fatal pathology that can complicate the disease in most advanced stages; this is a rare but well-known phenomenon in Literature and small intestine is the most common metastatic site. Generally these are patients with a known or surgically treated pulmonary neoplasm; the onset of pulmonary neoplastic disease with a symptomatic intestinal metastasis is to be considered extremely rare.
PRESENTATION OF CASES: We report two cases of small intestine perforation from pulmonary metastasis; diagnosis wa

Desmoid tumor is a rare locally progressive tumor represented by fibroblasts. Unlike other malignancies, desmoids do not metastasize. However, they can cause serious problems due to local spread. These neoplasms can have different localization, but are most often diagnosed in anterior abdominal wall. Desmoids can pose specific clinical challenges for surgeons and patients. This disease is extremely rare. Thus, there are few randomized studies devoted to effectiveness of each treatment method. This circumstance necessitates further research in these patients to assess the effectiveness of treat
