An experimental study was performed to compare the annoyances from civil-aircraft noise, military-aircraft noise, railway noise, and road-traffic noise. Blast lung injury in a 20-year-old man after a home explosion.

A large family home exploded after a propane leak ignited. Initial reports from the scene noted that 11 people were injured, with many sustaining critical injuries. Immediately, multiple helicopter emergency medical services aircraft were dispatched to respond to the scene, and ground emergency medical services (EMS) providers were en route. Of the five aircraft requested, only two were available to respond; one aircraft was out for maintenance, and two others were committed to other missions.

The sickle-cell and altitude.

High altitude seemed to be responsible for seven recent cases of sickling crisis. People with sickle-cell trait are at risk if they fly in unpressurized aircraft, which are used for many local air services. Those with sickle-cell haemoglobin C disease should avoid air travel even in pressurized aircraft. Possibly as a result of "autosplenectomy," patients with sickle-cell anaemia seem to be able to fly in pressurized aircraft with little risk. All passengers and aircrew who might have some form of sickle-cell disease should be screened before flight.

Motion sickness in operational bomber crews.

Airsickness has long been identified as a flying training issue. The present study sought to assess its impact in an operational setting. During a monthly wing safety meeting, 88 B-1B and B-52H crewmembers completed the "B-1B Airsickness Research File" questionnaire. We reviewed 47 documents published 1967-2019 that reported measurements of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) on commercial aircraft. We compared the measurements with the air quality standards and guidelines for aircraft cabins and in some cases buildings. Average levels of VOCs for which limits exist were lower than the permissible levels except for benzene with average concentration at 5.9 ± 5.5 μg/m3 .
