recent advances in rectal surgery include total mesorectal excision and preservation of the autonomic pelvic nerves, so that colorectal surgeons have to get some information on the embryology of the rectum, on the complex anatomy of the pelvic floor and on the distribution of lymphatic nodes. Anterior cervical decompressive surgery is widely performed for spondylosis, herniated intervertebral disk, tumor, infection, and trauma in the subaxial cervical spine region. Laceration of the vertebral artery is the most challenging of surgical dilemmas during anterior cervical spine surgery, as gaining control of the massive hemorrhage from a ruptured vertebral artery is difficult and could possibly result in an uncertain neurologic morbidity. As such, the understanding the surgical anatomy of the vertebral artery is essential to prevent iatrogenic injuries.

It is accepted that a range of epididymal anomalies exists in boys with cryptorchidism, varying from ductal patency aberrations to abnormal attachments of the epididymis to the testes or even complete absence. Despite several series characterizing these variations, there are few studies of normal controls for comparison. We document normal epididymal anatomy in boys. Twenty-four pregnant women carrying 26 fetuses (two sets of twins) were imaged with magnetic resonance (MR) imaging at 0.35 T following sonographic evaluation. Recent advances in our understanding of the neurochemical anatomy of the pyramidal and extrapyramidal motor systems have led to more logical and effective pharmacotherapies for movement disorders. As a consequence of some puzzling motility disturbances in patients with blow-out fractures, a new anatomic approach to the human orbit was developed. This new approach revealed unknown connective tissue septa inside the orbit. These connective tissue septa were highly organized and formed an accessory locomotor system. This system is involved in pathologic circumstances like blow-out fractures and can account for the motility disturbances in these cases; additionally, it plays an important, yet to be unravelled, role when normal eye movements are performed.
