The clinical story and the results of radiological and angiocardiographic investigations in 2 patients with proven mitral valve prolapse and cerebral ischemia are reported. Significant risk factors for stroke other than mitral valve prolapse were lacking. Cerebral angiography showed in one case a distal occlusion suggesting embolic brain lesion and was normal in the other case. Congenital aneurysm of the left atrial appendage is a rare anomaly, usually presenting in adult life. The case reported is that of a 55-year-old man who died of cerebral embolism originating from a thrombus in a congenital aneurysm of the left atrial appendage. The cardiac silhouette 11 years previously had suggested a cardiac tumour or a pericardial cyst. We reported a case of 70-year-old woman whose left atrial myxoma was resected. She had been suffered from low cardiac output due to mitral stenosis for 15 years or more. Twenty-six children who underwent an arterial switch operation for transposition of the great arteries were examined with MRI and Doppler ultrasound (US). The aim was to determine the capability of MRI for detecting a possible stenosis of the pulmonary arteries. In 10 children angiocardiography (ACG) was done after the MRI examination. A case of persistent left fifth aortic arch, forming a congenital "double-lumen" aortic arch, has been diagnosed on angiocardiography during life. It appeared as an unusual vascular structure running inferiorly and parallel to the "real" aortic arch from the innominate artery to the left subclavian artery superior to the pulmonary artery.
