Tuberous Sclerosis with Severe Cutaneous Manifestation and Multiples Facial Angiofibromas.

Tuberous sclerosis is an extremely variable disease that can affect virtually any organ in the body. The most common findings are cutaneous manifestations, that are critical features in helping to establish diagnosis. We present a case of young man with diagnosis of tuberous sclerosis presenting multiple shagreen patches around the trunk, in the neck and genital region; large plaques with uneven surfaces on the right side of the lower back; and multiple papular lesions in his face, particularly around the nasolabial region, eyebrows and forehead. Considering that tuberous sclerosis is a diseas

[The reliable treatment choice of nasopharyngeal angiofibroma and causes of operative bleeding].

OBJECTIVE: To introduce the efficacy of three surgical options for juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma (JNA) resection, and causes of operative bleeding. METHOD: Retrospective analysis of 36 JNAs,three surgical options were used to resect the tumor. There were 15 cases of Class I tumors , using endoscopic nasal cavity approach. Eighteen cases of class II tumors, via extended Caldwell-Luk incision, using the transantral-infratemporal fosse-nasal cavity combined approach for tumor resection. Three cases of class III tumors, the combined intracranial and extra-cranial approach was used to resec

Angiofibroma on cheek mucosa: a rare entity and its management with laser.

A rare presentation of an angiofibroma in the oral cavity is reported, which was treated with a diode laser. The benefits of laser treatment include bloodless procedure with instant precise coagulation of vessels. Although rare and unusual, it is suggested that angiofibroma should be included as one of the differential diagnoses of soft tissue swellings in the oral cavity.

An unusual location of juvenile angiofibroma: a case report and review of the literature.

A 10-year-old boy presented with left-sided nasal obstruction and epistaxis. Endoscopic evaluation revealed a polypoid mass in the vestibule arising from the lateral wall of the nasal cavity anteroinferior to the left inferior turbinate. Computed tomography (CT) scan showed a soft tissue opacity in the vestibule of the left nasal cavity. After the endoscopic excision of the mass, postoperative and histopathological analyses confirmed the diagnosis of an angiofibroma.

Cellular angiofibroma of the vulva: case report with clinicopathological and immunohistochemistry study.

CONTEXT: Cellular angiofibroma of the vulva is a rare tumor that was first described in 1997. It occurs in middle-aged women (average age: 47 years), has small size (< 3 cm) and well-circumscribed margins. CASE REPORT: We describe a case in a 51-year-old woman whose preoperative diagnosis was confounded with Bartholin's glandular cyst. The neoplasia was well delimited and made up of three characteristic components: fusiform cells forming small fascicles, numerous blood vessels and adipose tissue interspersed between the fusiform cells. The stroma cells were positive for vimentin and negative

Application of cyberknife for the treatment of juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma: a case report.

Juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma (JNA) tumors can be locally destructive when they spread submucosally. The purpose of this study was to present an image-guided, robotic radiotherapy (Cyberknife) to successfully treat a 12-year-old boy with Juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma (JNA). He complained of progressive right nasal obstruction, intermittent epistaxis. Computed tomography (CT), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed the presence of a tumor in the right nasal cavity and nasopharynx with significant hypervascularization from the right maxillary artery. Pathological findings co

Unilateral multiple facial angiofibromas: a mosaic form of tuberous sclerosis.

Tuberous sclerosis has many forms of clinical presentation. Rarely, multiple facial angiofibromas of unilateral distribution have been reported. We describe 2 patients with such a presentation and hypothesize that this is a mosaic form of tuberous sclerosis.

[Angiofibroma of the nasal fossae: apropos of 12 cases observed in Mali].

Over a period of 2 years, 12 cases of angiofibroma of the nasal fossae were observed in an otorhinolaryngology department in Bamako. The classical female sex bias attributed to this disorder which involved patients under 40 years of age in 10 cases was not found. Also in contrast with usual observations, the lesion was located in the septum in only one third of cases. In all cases management was performed on an outpatient basis and diagnosis was confirmed by histology. All patients underwent excision of polyps by the endonasal route under local anesthesia. In 2 patients with septal angiomas, e

Primary Chest Wall Angiofibroma: Expanding the Spectrum of Benign Chest Wall Tumours.

Angiofibromas are benign vascular tumours predominantly found in the nasopharynx, with primary chest wall occurrences being exceedingly uncommon. While well-documented in certain anatomical locations like the nasopharynx and facial skin, primary chest wall angiofibromas represent an extremely rare entity with limited information in the medical literature. Management should follow principles for benign but highly vascular chest wall tumours, with comprehensive imaging, cautious biopsy, and complete surgical excision when feasible. Recognising this rarity expands the differential diagnosis of ch

Integrating gamma knife radiosurgery into multimodal treatment of advanced juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma.

Juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma (JNA) is a benign, highly vascular tumor affecting adolescent males. While early-stage disease is primarily managed surgically, advanced stages (Fisch III-IV) often require adjunctive therapy. Gamma Knife radiosurgery (GKRS) offers a targeted, minimally invasive option with low morbidity. This study assesses the efficacy and safety of GKRS in treating residual or unresectable intracranial JNA. A retrospective study involving 14 patients with histopathologically confirmed JNA was performed, treated with Gamma Knife Perfexion (mean marginal dose: 16.13 Gy, ra

Cervical angiofibroma of soft tissue: A rare case report with literature review.

RATIONALE: Angiofibroma of soft tissue (AFST) is a rare benign fibrous tumor recently included in the 2020 WHO classification of soft tissue and bone tumors. Currently, there are limited reports on AFST, and pathologists lack sufficient understanding of its clinical and pathological characteristics. There is scarce literature available on AFST in the cervical region. PATIENT CONCERNS: We presented a case of a 49-year-old woman who was admitted to our hospital for emergency treatment due to vaginal bleeding and fatigue. Ultrasound revealed a 63 × 27 mm hypoechoic mass extending from the cervic

Nasal angiofibroma treatment outcome using intensity-modulated radiation therapy in a dog.

A 6-year-old dog presented with a modified Adams stage 3 angiofibroma of the right nasal cavity, causing fluid accumulation along the right frontal sinus. Treatment consisted of step-and-shoot intensity-modulated radiation therapy in 12 daily treatments of 3.5 Gy, for a total dose of 42 Gy to 95% of the planning target volume. The dog developed self-limiting grade 2 oral mucositis which resolved within 2 weeks of course completion. A recheck exam 668 days after treatment confirmed a stable disease response by RECIST and a tumor volume decrease of 55.4%.

Juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma: National practice patterns and resource utilization via HCUP KID.

BACKGROUND: Juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma (JNA) is a locally aggressive benign vascular tumor that typically afflicts young adolescent males. Historically removed via open approaches, these tumors are now being removed endoscopically. As the modern healthcare setting emphasizes value, efficient utilization of resources may lead to decreased cost while maintaining or improving patient outcomes. OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study was to investigate how perioperative management of juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibromas (JNAs) influence overall cost. We specifically investigate the effe

Bronchial angiofibroma in tuberous sclerosis complex: A case report and literature review.

Cutaneous angiofibroma is part of the classic triad of tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC). Angiofibroma is rarely reported to affect the mucous membranes of the trachea and bronchus. Tracheobronchial angiofibroma is also a hamartomatous manifestation of TSC. Considering the paucity of literature describing tracheal lesions in TSC, more case reports are needed to guide treatment planning. This case report adds to the existing clinical literature and provides a reference for clinical diagnosis.
