Bilateral fracture-dislocation of the talus is a rare occurrence. It represents 0.06% of the dislocations and 2% of the traumas of the talus. We report the case of a 29-year-old patient with an exposed bilateral fracture of the talus following a plane accident. To review flight regulations and gestational complications associated with air travel in pregnant passengers, flight attendants, and aviators. A literature search was undertaken on the relationship of air travel and spontaneous pregnancy losses, intrauterine fetal demise (IUFD), birth weight<10th percentile, preterm delivery, and neonatal intensive care unit admissions. Prior to endonasal endoscopic advances for the treatment of sinus disease, surgical results for aviators with recurrent sinus barotrauma (RSB) were inconsistent. Between 1988 and 1992, 54 aviators, who were permanently or temporarily grounded, underwent functional endoscopic sinus (FES) surgery in an attempt to return them to active flying status. INTRODUCTION: Vigilance decrements in air traffic control (ATC) are a persistent problem for neuroergonomics: human cognitive performance must remain reliable across long operational shifts in an environment where lapses carry serious consequences. Sustained attentional failure is associated with degraded conflict detection, slower response to critical events, and airspace management errors. Impairment is bidirectional: underloaded controllers disengage while overloaded ones lose resolution, and current monitoring systems do not reliably distinguish between these states.
