A case of primary malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH) of the cecum was reported. Patient was a 52-year-old female, and complained of right lower abdominal pain. The barium enema and abdominal computed tomography demonstrated a localized mass involving the entire circumference of the cecum. Many elderly patients with suspected colonic neoplasm are referred to radiology departments for barium enema. Despite routine use of laxatives and colonic washouts and employment of antispasmodic drugs, problems occur with faecal residue and poor retention of barium. A case of carcinoma of the caecum is reported, which presented as acute appendicitis, although the carcinoma did not obstruct either the lumen of the appendix or the colon. BACKGROUND: There is no consensus as to how much ileal resection is sufficient when performing a right hemicolectomy for right colon cancers. Locally advanced caecal cancer has the highest incidence of peri-ileal lymph node metastasis. Benign dermoid cysts of the caecum are rare. We present a case of benign dermoid cyst of the caecum and discuss the various explanations of pathogenesis. Various possible explanations exist, including embryological sequestration, implantation following surgery, squamous metaplasia of enterogenous cysts and teratoma. In this case there was also a finding of intratubular germ cell neoplasia of one testis, detected on follow-up studies on the patient. The significance of this is discussed.

A retrospective analysis of 136 patients with ovarian carcinoma subjected to appendectomy as a part of surgical procedure was carried out to assess the importance of appendectomy in patients with ovarian cancer. Of the 136 patients studied, 94 had epithelial and 38 had non-epithelial type of primary ovarian carcinoma.
