[Little known sequelae of sprains of the cervical spine].

After cervical sprain not only pain and neuropsychological disturbances may occur, but also the following sequelae: cervical dystonia, and torticollis, dizziness, hearing loss for low frequencies, dysphonia and globus. Except for dystonia the symptoms often respond to manipulation of a blocked articulation between occiput and atlas or axis and the third cervical vertebra.

Management of non-contiguous upper and lower cervical spine fractures.

PURPOSE: Upper cervical fracture combined with non-contiguous lower cervical fracture are not uncommon but complicated. In order to outline a management principle for the upper cervical fracture combined with non-contiguous lower cervical fracture and assess its clinical characteristics, we retrospectively analyzed 59 cases of patients who underwent surgical treatment for upper cervical fracture combined with non-contiguous lower cervical fracture. METHODS: 59 patients of upper cervical fracture combined with non-contiguous lower cervical fracture were treated by surgery in our hospital. Acco

The role of soft tissue mobilization in reducing orofacial and general complaints in a patient with Kimmerle anomaly and temporomandibular joint disorder: A case report.

Background: Kimmerle anomaly belongs to the anatomic varieties of the first cervical vertebra. The clinical pattern is dominated by vascular- and neurogenic-type headaches, dizziness, decreased postural muscle tension, and vegetative symptoms. Clinical Presentation: A 37-year-old woman who suffered from headache and pain in the left temporomandibular joint underwent clinical examination, electromyography of masticatory muscles, temporomandibular joint vibration analysis, cone beam computed tomography, and soft tissue mobilization. Radiologic examination revealed Kimmerle anomaly on the right s

OBJECTIVE: To explore the effect of articulatio atlantoepistrophica sublaxation on the pathogenesis of cervical spondylosis, and provide a thread for diagnosis and treatment of cervical spondylosis with manipulation. METHODS: There were two groups in the study, which were non cervical spondylosis group and cervical spondylosis group. There were 333 patients in cervical spondylosis group, included 119 males and 214 females with the mean age of(48.11±12.21) years old. Anterolateral decompression of the atlantoaxial vertebral artery for symptomatic positional occlusion of the vertebral artery. Case report.

A case of repeated vertebrobasilar ischemic attacks related to head rotation (bow hunter's stroke) is reported. With head rotation of 45 degrees or more to the right, the patient would become lightheaded and feel as if she were going to lose consciousness. Angiography performed when head rotation was to the right revealed mechanical compression of the left vertebral artery at the foramen transversarium of the axis and an occluded right vertebral artery. Untethering of the vertebral artery as it passed through the foramen transversarium of the atlas in this case completely relieved the patient'
