BACKGROUND: Simultaneous repair of pectus deformities and open heart surgery has been reported.
CASE PRESENTATION: We describe a case of a 23 year old male with a severe pectus deformity complaining of chest pain. Subsequent work up revealed a 10 cm. ascending aortic aneurysm and severe aortic insufficiency. We opted to repair the aneurysm and close the sternotomy, leaving the deformity intact.
CONCLUSION: In a more elective setting, simultaneous pectus repair combined with a cardiac procedure may be considered.

The chest pain is one of the most common reasons for consultation of the patients seen in the emergency services of hospitals. Still being the acute coronary syndrome one of the first causes to confirmed by its important repercussions, we do not have to forget other reasons. We report a case of acute anginalike chest pain due to gastric anisakiasis. The larvae of Anisakis in the gastric mucosa were found and extracted endoscopically. Gastric anisakiasis should be included in the differential diagnosis of acute chest pain.

This report highlights the clinical features of two patients who presented with severe neuropathic chest wall pain caused by herniated C6-7 disc, and speculates on the pathophysiology of this syndrome. Worsening of symptoms with neck movement helped localize the process as cervical spine rather than plexus in origin. Erroneous positioning of central venous catheters in small tributaries of large central veins is a rare occurrence. We describe three such unusual incidents involving cannulation of the left internal mammary vein. Malposition was suspected when infusion of hypertonic parenteral nutrition led to persistent precordial pain. Unusual chest pain syndromes may indicate central venous catheter malposition and have not previously been described.
