The endemic status of clonorchiasis and metagonimiasis along the Geum-gang (River) in Okcheon-gun (County) in Korea was examined. Examinations of 1599 residents of a polyinvasion focus at a seaside province Ha Nam Nin, Vietnam, have revealed clonorchiasis in approximately 13.9% of the examinees; in subjects aged over 30 this value was 29.3%. BACKGROUND: Clonorchiasis is an important foodborne parasitic disease in China caused by Clonorchis sinensis. Accurate and rapid diagnosis of this disease is vital for treatment and control. Traditional fecal examination methods, such as the Kato-Katz (KK) method, are labor-intensive, time-consuming, and have limited acceptance. The FA280, an advanced automated fecal analyzer, increases efficiency while significantly reducing labor load.
