The antibothropic factor (ABF) from D. marsupialis was collected from perforated hollow plastic golf balls which were surgically implanted subcutaneously in anesthetized opossums, a technique originally described for the production of polyclonal antibodies. Cyproterone acetate (CA) was toxic for Didelphis virginiana at a dose range of 22-28 mg/kg IM. A loss of spermatozoal pairing int the cauda epididymidis did not occur until 2 wk after testicular degeneration caused by CA. The isomers of 1-amino-3-chloro-2-propanol hydrochloride (CL 88,236 and CL 88,237) were well tolerated by the opossum at doses up to 30 mg/kg IM. After 8 days of CL 88,236 and CL 88,237 treatment there was no effect on spermatozoal pairing in the cauda epididymidis or on the seminiferous epithelium.

BACKGROUND: Uterus didelphys, or"double uterus,"is caused by the failure of Müllerian ducts fusion, eventually forming two uterine cavities, and it is one of the rare uterine malformations.Uterus didelphys and twin pregnancies are extremely rare clinically. In this paper, we report a case of twin pregnancy with uterus didelphys, simultaneous spontaneous conception with bilateral uterus and 12 weeks' interval of delivery. It also reviews the relevant literature to discuss the characteristics of fertility in patients with uterus didelphys and reasonable obstetric management.

INTRODUCTION: Uterine rupture during pregnancy caused by uterine dysplasia, such as the double uterus, is very rare and easily overlooked by the surgeon.
CASE: A 25-year-old woman, at 17 weeks of gestation presented to our emergency center with acute right lower abdominal pain for more than 10 h. The initial diagnosis is acute appendicitis, but during the exploration, we found about 2500 mL of intraperitoneal hemorrhage, appendix was normal, pregnancy in one of the double uterine and ruptured at the right bottom. The pregnancy was removed and the uterine defect was repaired.

Uterus didelphys with obstructed hemivagina and ipsilateral renal agenesis usually presents after menarche with progressive abdominal pain during menses secondary to hematocolpos. Initially, the anomaly remains unrecognized, while patients most frequently referred to surgeons for assistance. The method of choice for diagnosis is magnetic resonance imaging. A 13-year-old girl with signs and symptoms of an acute abdomen was found to have uterus didelphys, unilateral hematocolpos, ipsilateral renal agenesis and menses. A review of the literature in English revealed 115 reported cases. This complex congenital anomaly is seen most commonly in adolescents with dysmenorrhea of progressive severity, abdominal pain and a pelvic mass.

This study aimed to detect, isolate and to characterize by molecular methods a relapsing fever group (RFG) Borrelia in white-eared opossums (Didelphis albiventris) from Brazil.
