Patient education is an integral part of recovery from a critical cardiac life event and a core component of cardiac rehabilitation (CR) programmes. This study addressed the feasibility of a virtual educational programme for behaviour change in CR patients from a low-resource setting in Brazil. Cardiac patients from a CR programme closed due to the pandemic received a 12-week virtual educational intervention (WhatsApp messages and bi-weekly calls from healthcare providers). Acceptability, demand, implementation, practicality, and limited efficacy were tested. Overall, 34 patients and 8 healthc

BACKGROUND: Five-year survival on dialysis is only 40%, compared to 74% with a deceased donor kidney transplant (DDKT) and 87% with a living donor kidney transplant (LDKT). An American Society of Transplantation (AST) Consensus Conference recommended that patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) Stages 3-5 have the opportunity to learn about and decide which treatment option is right for them, particularly about LDKT. However, early education about LDKT and DDKT outside of transplant centers is inconsistent and often poor, with patients in CKD 3 and 4 and ethnic/racial minorities even less l

INTRODUCTION: In 2011, Umeå University in Sweden was facing its first attempt to transform the existing medical program into a regionalized medical program (RMP), supported by the use of digital technologies. The Swedish RMP means that students are distributed in geographically separated groups while doing their five clinical clerkship semesters. To provide medical students with ways of undertaking their theoretical studies when geographically distributed, digital technologies are used for educational and administrative purposes. In this article, the Swedish RMP will be described and related t

The application of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in the field of dyslexia is becoming increasingly abundant. However, the content of related literature shows that there is still a lack of systematic and comprehensive research in this field at home and abroad. By outlining the development of AI technology, the meaning, causes, and classification of learning disabilities, the most representative studies on the application of AI technology in dyslexia education, including four aspects of diagnosis, intervention, assessment, and services are analyzed. The study finds that AI technology c

BACKGROUND: Historically, health literacy has been viewed as the patient's problem; however, it is now accepted that the responsibility for improving health literacy lies with the health care professionals and systems. An Institute of Medicine report outlines the health literacy attributes, such as printed patient education and technology, which both play a role in patient decision-making and engaging them in their health care. Research suggests that patients who are engaged in their health care have improved health outcomes. For health care organizations to accommodate the needs of all patien

BACKGROUND: Mock examinations are widely used in health professional education to assess learning and prepare candidates for national licensure. However, instructor-written multiple-choice items can vary in difficulty, coverage, and clarity. Recently, large language models (LLMs) have achieved high accuracy in medical examinations, highlighting their potential for assisting item-bank development; however, their educational quality remains insufficiently characterized.
OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to (1) identify the most accurate LLM for the Japanese National Examination for Radiological Techn

A few noteworthy exceptions notwithstanding, quantitative analyses of relational learning are most often simple descriptive measures of study outcomes. For example, studies of stimulus equivalence have made much progress using measures such as percentage consistent with equivalence relations, discrimination ratio, and response latency. Although procedures may have ad hoc variations, they remain fairly similar across studies. Comparison studies of training variables that lead to different outcomes are few. Yet to be developed are tools designed specifically for dynamic and/or parametric analyse

OBJECTIVES: Health Human Resources (HHR) are critical for the effective functioning of healthcare systems, yet significant shortages exist, particularly in radiography. The increasing demand for diagnostic radiography services, driven by advancements in medical technology, an aging population, and the prevalence of chronic diseases, exacerbates these shortages. The COVID-19 pandemic further highlighted workforce vulnerabilities, increasing workloads and burnout. This review examines HHR shortages in radiography in Australia and proposes strategies for sustainable workforce development.

Generative artificial intelligence (GAI) has taken the world by storm, causing notable tension within the field of education. Nursing education is no exception, facing imminent challenges and opportunities. GAI, a unique and immensely powerful technology championed by ChatGPT (Chat generative pre-trained transformer), represents a new frontier in artificial intelligence. ChatGPT, a product of deep learning - a subset of machine learning that mirrors the human brain's approach to learning and responding to data, information, and prompts - exemplifies this technological leap (Sahoo et al., 2022)
