In this study, cetylpyridinium peroxyphosphotungstate was synthesized as an environmentally benign phase transfer catalyst with high catalytic activity from cetylpyridinium chloride, phosphotungstic acid, and hydrogen peroxide. A practical method for analysis of residues of imidacloprid in baked tobacco leaves has been developed using HPLC with liquid-liquid partition clean-up.
