Lesions exhibiting heightened 18 F-FDG uptake in colorectal PET scans may be indicative of either benign or malignant processes, thus necessitating gastroscopic biopsy or pathologic assessment for diagnostic clarification. Herein, we reported intense 18 F-FDG uptake but negative 68 Ga-FAPI-04 PET uptake in a 65-year-old man with sigmoid colon tubular adenoma. This case underscores the utility of FAPI PET in preoperatively discerning between colorectal carcinoma and adenoma, potentially influencing treatment strategies.

Hypopharyngeal liposarcoma is an extremely rare entity, and yet fewer than 40 cases have been reported in the literature. Lacking the possibility of distant metastases, local surgical resection with a clear margin can achieve the purpose of treatment. Endoscopic submucosal dissection has been widely used in the treatment of early upper gastrointestinal cancer and superficial hypopharyngeal cancer. Here, we present a case of a giant tumor originated from the hypopharynx that received primary resection by endoscopic submucosal dissection using a flexible upper gastroscope.

We present the first case of a gastric bezoar caused by barium sulphate acting as an intermittently occluding mass in a patient who had undergone small bowel follow-through on suspicion of small bowel obstruction (SBO) after total pancreatectomy. The patient underwent acute surgery but intermittent symptoms of SBO persisted. A barium bezoar was seen on plain abdominal film and afterwards diluted and fragmented gastroscopically. A barium bezoar giving rise to SBO is a possible complication to barium follow-through in patients with impaired gastric transit time.

The binding moiety of sucralfate to gastric mucosal sites, such as gastric ulcers and areas of gastritis, was studied in humans. The methods used to elucidate this binding were chemical assay of sucralfate, gastroscopic examination, and histological diagnosis in 39 patients with gastric ulcer and ten patients with gastritis. Lymphocytic gastritis is a histopathological entity corresponding with diffuse varioliform gastritis but also with other gastroscopic findings. Eighteen patients were followed over a mean period of 25 months. The symptoms, the endoscopic and histopathological abnormalities remained unchanged in the majority of the cases. A 12-year-old girl with acute gastric volvulus associated with severe scoliosis and neurological impairment did well initially with nasogastric tube decompression. To prevent recurrence, anterior gastropexy was performed using percutaneous sutures through the abdominal wall and stomach with the gastroscope in place. Simultaneous laparoscopic guidance was used to ensure that the stomach was fixed in a nonrotated position. One year later, volvulus has not recurred. Heterotopic pancreas (HP) in the stomach is a relatively well-known entity, but there are not many symptomatic cases reported in children. We report on a 9-year-old boy presenting with nausea and vomiting. The first gastroscopic examination showed a crater-like lesion in the antrum, but at follow-up gastroscopy a few weeks later the lesion was polypoid, obstructing the pylorus. Endoscopic biopsy was not diagnostic, but histological examination after open excision showed HP. It is unclear why the lesion changed so markedly in appearance in just a few weeks. BACKGROUND: Chronic atrophic gastritis (CAG), premalignant lesions of gastric cancer (GC), greatly increases the risk of GC. Endoscopic variceal obturation of gastric varices with tissue glue is considered the first choice for management of gastric varices, and is usually safe and effective. However, there is still a low incidence of complications and some are even fatal. Here, we present a case in which endoscopic variceal ligation caused laceration of the esophageal varicose vein with tissue glue emboli and massive bleeding after 3 mo. Cessation of bleeding was achieved via variceal sclerotherapy using a cap-fitted gastroscope. Methods of recognizing an esophageal varicose vein with tissue glue plug are discussed.
