We report an observation of extensive and atypical dermatophytosis to Trichophyton rubrum coexisting with fingernails and tinea manuum candidiasis in a 13-year-old girl presenting inflammatory cutaneous lesions, involvement of scalp, as well as total dystrophic onychomycosis of feet associated with a perionyxis of hands. The results of the mycological examination of specimen showed fungal elements of septate hyphae and pilar parasitism. Erythema multiforme is exceptional in newborns, and none of the few available reports has revealed a clear etiologic agent, not even herpes simplex virus. Immunocompetent patients rarely present with cutaneous cytomegalovirus involvement, and few cases of cytomegalovirus-associated erythema multiforme have been described, none of them in newborns. We report the first case of erythema multiforme in a newborn associated with cytomegalovirus infection.

Acrokeratosis verruciformis of Hopf is a rare disorder and characterized by flesh-coloured, wart-like, flat papules on the dorsum of the hands and feet. The disease is an autosomal disorder, but sporadic cases also occur. We present a 38-year-old woman diagnosed with acrokeratosis verruciformis without family history and treated successfully with acitretin.

The aim of this study is to find out the causes of skin diseases in one-third of the staff of a perfume factory, in which 10 different perfume sprays were being manufactured. Site inspection, dermatological examination and patch testing of all 26 persons at risk with 4 perfume oils and 30 ingredients of them. The results showed 6 bottlers were found suffering from allergic contact dermatitis, 2 from irritant contact dermatitis, 12 workers showed different strong reactions to various fragrances. A 3-year-old girl presented with a 6-month history of multiple, light-pink, flat-topped papules over the dorsal aspects of the metacarpophalangeal and interphalangeal joints of the hands and feet. It is mandatory to establish a firm diagnosis before starting systemic antimycotic therapy because of potential side effects and relatively high therapy costs. Direct microscopy and fungal culture are the most widely employed diagnostic tools. We report a patient presenting with lichenoid plaques on exposed skin who had the metabolic features of porphyria cutanea tarda (PCT). Histology of lesional skin demonstrated a lichenoid inflammatory cell infiltrate in the upper dermis, while direct immunofluorescence revealed immunoreactive colloid bodies. In 1990, we first described the papular-purpuric "gloves and socks" syndrome (PPGSS). It is characterized by an itching erythema and edema of the hands and feet together with oral mucosal lesions and fever. The skin lesions subsequently become purpuric and resolve spontaneously after a few days. In more than half of the patients, an acute parvovirus B 19 infection has been proven. In a few cases of PPGSS, other viral infections have been found, for example hepatitis B and measles. We report on a patient with PPGSS and review the literature.
