The bacterial communities that are established during natural meat fermentation depend on the processing conditions and the type of meat substrate used. The case of a 32-year-old female patient with multiple malformations (hare-lip, polythelia, fibroadenoma in an accessory mammary gland) and independent of these, another fibroadenoma in the breast is reported. The fibroadenoma developing in the accessory breast around the vulva, diagnosed by means of aspiration biopsy cytology, should be payed special attention. This case also confirms the applicability in preoperative diagnostics of aspiration biopsy cytology, a method which has proved to be effective for years.

Joint manifestation in Lyme disease hare shown similarities to those in reactive arthritis. SAPHO syndrome can also be included into the group of seronegative spondyloarthrophaties. It is presented a patient with joint, ocular and serological features proper of Lyme disease and after ones suggestive of SAPHO syndrome, who responds properly to an antibiotic treatment. It is considered the possibility that some patients suffering from SAPHO syndrome can also be suffering from Lyme disease.

Out of 22 patients with corneal dermoids, 9 showed other abnormalities consistent with the 1st branchial arch syndrome. In 4 cases there was hare lip, divided jaw and /or cleft palate along-side other abnormalities which made impossible a sure classification into one of the recognised syndromes. It is assumed that the anomalies arise in the 5th and 6th intrauterine week. The corneal dermoids were always unilateral and in only one case confined in position to the cornea.

The HIT method was used to examine blood serums of the game in Moravia (roebuck, red deer, fallow deer, mouflon, wild boar, brown hare) for the presence of antibodies to arboviruses of these groups: alphavirus (Sindbis-SIN), flavivirus (West Nile-WN), tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) and Bunyamwera (Tahyna-TAH, Calovo-CVO). Antibodies to all viruses were detected, and namely in these frequencies: SIN 0.9%, WN 16.9%, TAH 41.5%, CVO 23.1% and TBE 8.5%.

Ixodes ticks of the species Hyalomma marginatum are widely spread in the semidesert and steppe landscape zones of the Stavropol Territory. The circle of the main hosts for the larvae and nymphs of these ticks includes many species of wild and domestic birds, European brown hare, four-toed and eared hedgehogs. Rodents are of no great importance for ticks as a feeding source. Adult ticks parasitize on agricultural animals, domestic dogs and attack humans. The prospects of further studies of the way of life this tick in connection with its importance for infectious pathology are discussed.

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of glycoconjugate components extracted from the submandibular glands of four mammal species (rat, mouse, rabbit, hare) on human hemostatic system. The following analyses were performed: thromboelastography and hemocoagulation screening tests (Thrombin Time, Prothrombin Time, Partial Thromboplastin Time). Findings showed that all glycoconjugates induce modifications of fibrin clot formation time, modulus of elasticity and some hemocoagulation tests (TT, PTT). The anticoagulant effects were of inhibitory type.

The antibiotic susceptibilities of 50 Francisella tularensis subsp. holarctica biovar II strains isolated from hares and human patients from the eastern part of Austria were examined. Impacted sharp foreign bodies in the oesophagus can be very difficult to manage. When attempts are made to remove such objects inappropriately, life-threatening complications such as oesophageal perforation can occur. We hare reported a rare case of impacted denture in the oesophagus where endoscopic removal was not possible due to the perforation already caused by the denture, sinee this would have caused an oesophageal laceration, which could have proved fatal. Hence surgical removal had to be performed with repair of the oesophageal perforation.

During the hunting season 2013-2014, fecal samples collected from hare, roe deer, deer and wild boars were sent to the bacteriology laboratory for the isolation of Escherichia coli and multidrug resistant isolates were characterized phenotypically and genotypically.
