The aim of the present study was to investigate the impact on glutathione metabolism exerted by different thiol or redox reactive agents. Adherence of trichomonads to host epithelial cells appears to be a critical step in the pathogenesis of trichomoniasis. We evaluated the effect of a panel of 10 monoclonal antibodies on attachment of [35S]methionine-radiolabeled Trichomonas vaginalis strains to HeLa cell monolayers. In this study, we examined whether the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ (PPARγ) agonists, ciglitazone (CGZ) and troglitazone (TGZ), induce cell death in human cervical cancer HeLa cells.
