A 38-year-old woman was admitted for intranasal ethmoidectomy. Cell-mediated response in 60 patients affected by acuminated condylomas has been studied; this was investigated with aspecific in vivo tests (intradermal-reaction with tuberculin, trichophytin, candidine) and by in vitro tests (blood test with cell count, lymphocyte typing, serum proteins, serum immunoglobulin) and was compared with a control group. The results obtained confirm the hypothesis that condylomas acuminata usually occurs in patients with well-preserved cell-mediated immunity.

BACKGROUND: The pathergy test, an important test in the diagnosis of Behçet's disease, is currently applied with disposable/sharp needles and evaluated only clinically (no histopathologic evaluation). In this study, the usefulness of the pathergy test conducted intradermally and intravenously with disposable/sharp needles in the diagnosis and determination of the activation of the disease is studied in comparison with the test conducted with nondisposable/blunt needles. We studied 200 patients assisting at the Allergy Department and the Gastroenterology Department in "Hermanos Ameijeiras" Clinical-Surgical Hospital. They were clinically and immunologically tested for giardiasis through duodenal fortis or gall bladder drainage and total IgE serum levels. All patients underwent intradermal and skin prick tests with Giardine allergenic extract. These skin tests showed high sensitivity and increased specificity. Thus, our procedure in diagnosis is accurate, accessible and economical.

We report a case of a patient who suffered generalized urticaria, chest tightness, wheezing, nausea, vomiting, hypotension, and loss of consciousness. Two hours earlier she had taken Eulitop Retard following lunch. She had tolerated all the implicated food after the reaction. BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Penicillin allergy is a common clinical problem. The distinction between penicillin and para-infectious exanthems is difficult. We investigated the reliability of the history, as well as the sensitivity and specificity of skin tests and specific IgE levels.
