Zika virus (ZIKV) recently caused a pandemic complicated by Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS) and birth defects. Vulvar cancer accounts for 5% of the female genital tract cancers. Cutaneous metastases from vulvar cancer are extremely rare and for this reason, it can be difficult to reach a diagnosis with a consequent delay in the treatment. A systematic literature review of articles on this subject was conducted through a MEDLINE-based search for articles published in English or French. BACKGROUND: The relationship between the subjective diagnosis of lipoatrophy and the objective amount of limb fat loss in HIV-infected adults is unclear.
METHODS: Using Medline, we identified published articles reporting the amount of arm, leg or limb fat measured by dual X-ray absorptiometry in HIV-infected patients with moderate-severe lipoatrophy and in healthy non-HIV-infected adults. Human rickettsioses caused by intracellular bacteria of the genus Rickettsia are distributed worldwide and are transmitted by arthropod vectors such as ticks, fleas, mites and lice. They have a wide range of manifestations from benign to life-threatening diseases. Mortality rates of up to 30% have been reported for some rickettsioses. Here, the authors will review in vitro and human studies of the various compounds that have been used for the treatment of Rickettsia spp. infections.
