BACKGROUND: Secondhand smoke (SHS) exposure for workers and patrons in hospitality venues is a persistent and significant public health concern. We designed this study to provide a comprehensive assessment of SHS exposure inside an Indian Tribal Casino in Minnesota.

This study examined the association between scores on the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-2-Restructured Form (MMPI-2-RF) with static and dynamic risk assessment instruments, including the STATIC-99 and Level of Service Inventory-Revised (LSI-R). The aim of this study is to explore the effects of ChunDoSunBup Qi-training on personality traits. Twenty-six normal healthy subjects (mean age = 26.58 +/- 6.56) and 26 CDSB Qi-trainees (mean age = 27.74 +/- 5.21) participated in this study. Abnormal psychological factors have been implicated in the development of functional dysphonia (FD). This investigation describes the personality and psychological characteristics of 25 female subjects who had received the diagnosis of FD. In all subjects symptoms were resolved after voice therapy. Forty-seven patients meeting DSM-III-R criteria for panic disorder with agoraphobia (PAG) were assessed by the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) at baseline and after 8 weeks of treatment with imipramine, clomipramine and placebo. At pre-treatment patients had higher MMPI scores than the local normative data, the highest scores being for depression, hypochondria and hysteria. We report here a summary of the data obtained from two HIV-1 antibody counseling and testing sites in Minneapolis-St. Paul for the first 48 months of operation (24,911 persons tested). The HIV-1 antibody seroprevalence rate for all persons tested was 5 percent. The highest seroprevalence rates were in male homosexual/bisexual intravenous drug users (23 percent) and homosexual/bisexual men (13 percent). Medical records of all residents of Rochester, Minnesota, who had a first stroke in 1975-1979 were reviewed to determine level of disability, disposition, and use of rehabilitation services. Of the 292 persons with a first stroke, 251 (86%) (mean age 70 years) survived greater than 1 week. The mean Rankin disability score (Grade 1, no disability, through Grade 5, severe disability) changed from 1.7 before stroke to 2.8 in survivors at hospital discharge; 29% of those discharged required further institutional care.
