Malfunction of a Codman Hakim programmable valve due to jamming of its programmable component may necessitate shunt revision. The authors report a method for programming jammed Codman Hakim programmable valves by using a Strata II magnet and additional neodymium magnets. PURPOSE: To report the characteristics and the surgical outcomes of full-thickness macular holes (MHs) accidently caused by laser devices and analyze the visual predictors.
METHODS: Thirty-three eyes that underwent vitrectomy for laser-induced MHs were included. The Neodymium-Yag laser was successfully used with a choledochofiberscope for choledocholithotomy in two patients. The bile duct stones were crushed with the Yag laser and removed or pushed into the duodenum without causing any injury. This procedure is highly recommended for treatment of some patients with bile duct stones.

A case is described in which, after removal of midline supernumerary teeth on two separate occasions, an unerupted central incisor was brought into the arch with the aid of neodymium-iron-boron magnets. Once the incisor was visible, a pre-adjusted upper edgewise appliance was used to guide the tooth into its correct position.

We can combine mechanochemical processing with extraction using deep eutectic solvents (DES) to achieve an accelerated dissolution of iron (Fe) and neodymium (Nd) in permanent magnet oxides.
