Galactorrhea is commonly caused by hyperprolactinemia, especially when it is associated with amenorrhea. Hyperprolactinemia is most often induced by medication or associated with pituitary adenomas or other sellar or suprasellar lesions. Less common causes of galactorrhea include hypothyroidism, renal insufficiency, pregnancy, and nipple stimulation. BACKGROUND/AIM: The study aimed at investigating the correlation between ductoscopic and histopathological findings and clarify whether the former allow for accurate prediction of malignancy.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: The prospective national multi-center study covered a sample of 224 patients with pathologic nipple discharge. A total of 214 patients underwent ductoscopy with subsequent extirpation of the mammary duct. The ductoscopic findings were categorized according to shape, number, color and surface structure of lesions and vascularity and compared to the histological results and analyses.

Simultaneous bilateral primary breast carcinoma in the male is a rare occurrence. Prognostic factors determining the survival rate in male patients with breast cancer are the same as for those in female patients. Retraction and bloody discharge from the nipple, enlargement of axillary nodes, ulceration of the skin, and so forth indicate a poor prognosis. Early detection of cancer using the best available modality, therefore, is of great importance in improving the survival of these patients.

Ductal carcinoma in situ is very rare in male patients, accounting for approximately 5%-7% of all male breast cancers. We present a case of a man in his early 70s who presented with bloody nipple discharge and gynaecomastia and was subsequently diagnosed with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS). We discuss his management with surgical resection and the consideration of adjuvant treatment. We also review the existing literature on the presentation, diagnosis and management of DCIS in men.

A retrospective analysis of 52 patients with intraductal carcinoma or ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) and 30 patients with microinvasive DCIS was performed. Despite advancements in breast cancer management, metastatic disease remains a challenge. Thymic metastasis is an infrequent site of involvement. We intend to report a rare case of a woman in her 40s who presented with bilateral nipple discharge for 2 months. A triple assessment confirmed left breast carcinoma. A staging CT scan and positron emission tomography scan revealed an anterior mediastinal mass of thymic origin, and histology confirmed metastatic breast cancer. The patient made a good recovery following surgical and oncological treatment.
