This report presents the clinical and histologic features and treatment of a classic nasolabial (nasoalveolar) cyst. Review of the literature confirms the fact that this lesion is a benign developmental cyst that may arise from epithelium of the nasolacrimal duct. The lesion is usually unilateral, but may be bilateral, is located beneath the ala of the nose, and occurs more frequently in females. Histologically, it is most frequently lined by a pseudostratified columnar epithelium, although both stratified squamous and cuboidal epithelium and goblet cells may be found. The cyst responds well t

The classification, embryology, histopathology, clinical features, and treatment of benign jaw cysts are presented. Emphasis is placed on the differentiation of benign cysts from malignant radiolucent lesions of the jaws. Preservation of adjacent teeth and over vital structures is of paramount importance in the management of jaw cysts.

This study aimed at presenting a retrospective longitudinal analysis of the pediatric jaw lesions treated at the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, over a timeframe of ten years (2012 to 2022). The clinical and radiological characteristics of the jawbone lesions, the treatment outcome, and the recurrence incidence were described. All consecutive patients aged below 18 years, with histologically diagnosed odontogenic tumors (OTs), nonodontogenic tumors (non-OTs), or odontogenic cysts (OCs) were included. Age, dentition type, clinical symptoms, preoperative and postop

We present the case of a patient who presented an unusually large mucoid cyst measuring 38 x 25 mm in an uncommon localization, the right maxillary. We examine the topographic and histological characteristics of mucoceles together with their treatment. The main differential diagnoses of liquid tumoral formations of the maxillary are also discussed.

To our knowledge, this is the first report of calcium oxalate crystals in a cyst of the oral cavity. No underlying systemic disorder could be identified. It is proposed that this represents a dystrophic process, possibly related to inflammation, although the mechanism of the crystal formation is uncertain.

Using routine X-ray pictures the different types of jaw cysts are presented and the characteristic findings of the individual cyst types are emphasised. An exact diagnosis can often be made using only the panorama tomograph, particularly if the topographic position of the cyst and any relationship to the dental system are taken into account. The differential diagnosis becomes difficult in cases where the peripheral compact lamella is missing or the bony border is not sharp, and in cases of honeycombed, multilocular, polycystic form. In such cases tumours, metastases and systemic diseases must
