A single platelet thrombus was formed in an arteriole of the hamster cheek pouch by electrical stimulation followed by topical application of ADP. Using an in vitro system designed to measure arterial constriction, we have demonstrated the importance of platelet function in maintaining cerebral smooth muscle contraction after whole blood injection.
