Self-perceived competence of nurses working in digestive endoscopy units: a nationwide cross-sectional survey.

BACKGROUND: Gastrointestinal endoscopy is an increasingly complex clinical environment in which nurses play a pivotal role throughout the patient pathway. Although international guidelines and curricula clearly define the expected competencies of endoscopy nurses, their competence profile has not been consistently described across healthcare settings, particularly from the nurses' own perspective and across both technical and non-technical items. The aim of this study is to describe the self-perceived competence of nurses working in digestive endoscopy units and to explore its association with

AIM: To examine current methods used to assess wound-care competence in undergraduate nursing programs and to identify key gaps and opportunities for improvement. BACKGROUND: Wound-care competence is fundamental to safe nursing practice, yet its assessment in undergraduate education remains inconsistent. Despite a range of tools and approaches, there is limited consensus on what constitutes wound-care competence or how it should be evaluated. Understanding existing assessment practices, including the validity and reliability of assessment instruments, is crucial for informing the development

BACKGROUND: Taiwan is projected to become a "super-aged" society by 2025, leading to an increasing demand for community psychiatric long-term care (LTC). This demographic shift necessitates frontline professionals equipped with specialized communication skills and deep empathy. However, traditional didactic teaching often fails to adequately prepare students for the complex emotional and practical challenges of real-world psychiatric caregiving. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the innovative youth-elder co-learning instructional model, which uniquely integrates mi

INTRODUCTION: The growing demand for home care due to demographic changes and the preference of older people to remain at home presents new challenges for nursing professionals. Despite positive practical experiences, only a few trainees currently choose to start their professional career in the home care sector, indicating structural deficits and specific demands in this setting. The aim of the study was to identify factors influencing entry and retention of nursing professionals in ambulatory care, and to highlight actionable features for increasing attachment to the home care sector. Contributions from popular education in health to structural competency training: An experience from Chile.

Structural competency is used to train health professionals on how social, political, and economic dynamics create conditions that negatively impact a population's health. In the Global South, this approach has historical roots in social movements, popular education, social medicine, and human rights. In 1982, during a time of extreme poverty, inequality, and violence under the Chilean military dictatorship, Educación Popular en Salud (EPES), developed a programme for training community health promoters to address common illnesses and analyse the underlying causes of poor health. In 2010, EPES

Exploring Health Care Professionals' Perspectives on Education, Awareness, and Preferences for Digital Educational Resources to Support Transgender, Nonbinary, and Intersex Care: Interview Study.

BACKGROUND: Health care professionals often face challenges in providing affirming and culturally competent care to transgender, nonbinary, and intersex (TNBI) patients due to a lack of understanding and training in TNBI health care. Spiritual care competence and associated factors among nurses: a multi-center cross-sectional study.

BACKGROUND: Spiritual care competence among nurses is a crucial aspect of delivering holistic care to patients. Although conducting a study on the Spiritual Care Competence Scale (SCCS) of nurses not only contributes to the improvement of patient care but also provides valuable insights for the continuous development of healthcare professionals and the enhancement of healthcare services, it has been observed to receive comparatively less attention in recognizing its importance. The study aimed to assess the level of nurses' Spiritual Care Competence Scale and associated factors in Northwest Am

Spiritual and religious competence in psychotherapy training.

Responsiveness to clients' spirituality and/or religion (S/R) is a core dimension of multicultural and clinical competence. S/R might support or hinder clients' well-being and recovery from mental health conditions that might lead them to seek psychotherapy. Further, clients from across the spectrum of S/R diversity often want therapists to attend to their spiritual and/or religious identities in the treatment process. However, many counselors, marriage and family therapists, psychologists, social workers, and other psychotherapy practitioners do not receive training in foundational knowledge,

A survey on low-dose oral contraceptive transactions at pharmacies.

Low-dose oral contraceptives (OCs) were approved by the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare in 1999. However, few women use low-dose OCs (married 1.9%, unmarried 0.7%). A survey of pharmacies was conducted to determine the current status of OC transactions. Of the 449 pharmacies randomly selected from each prefecture in Japan, 408 agreed to be interviewed. The survey results indicated that few pharmacies (15.1% of the total) stocked low-dose OCs. Even among pharmacies where they were available, only a few (13.5%) offered a wide variety of low-dose OCs for immediate dispensing. The p

A comparative study on nursing students' attitudes towards death and palliative care before and after their clinical internship in China.

BACKGROUND: Nurses play a central role in delivering palliative care (PC), and their attitudes toward death directly affect the quality of care provided. Clinical internships represent a critical transition for nursing students, bridging theoretical knowledge and practical experience, and shaping their development as professional caregivers. However, research in this area remains limited. This study aims to understand the changes in attitudes towards death and PC among nursing undergraduate students before and after clinical internships in China. METHODS: A longitudinal survey was conducted w
