Acute erythroid leukemia is rare, with isolated reports on presentation as an extramedullary tumor mass (myeloid sarcoma). We describe a case of pure erythroid leukemia presenting as an orbital mass in a 1-year, 9-month-old girl. This is only the second case described in a child. Tissue biopsy of the tumor mass showed medium-sized cells that were glycophorin A positive and negative with conventional myeloid markers. Flow cytometry, bone marrow aspirate, and trephine confirmed the diagnosis of pure erythroid leukemia.

OBJECTIVE: Myeloid sarcoma (MS) is a rare extramedullary manifestation of acute myeloid leukemia that often presents during remission or disease relapse. With awareness of this clinical entity and the appropriate clinical history, MS can be detected despite its nonspecific radiologic features.
CONCLUSION: This article highlights the utility of (18)F-FDG PET/CT, which has high sensitivity in detecting early MS and provides a systemic overview of tumor burden, and its potential role in monitoring of treatment response.

Isolated myeloid sarcoma is an extramedullary tumor of immature myeloid cells defined by the absence of leukemia history, myelodisplastic syndrome, or myeloproliferative neoplasma with a negative bone marrow biopsy. A 49-year-old woman with acute myeloid leukemia, FAB M1 subtype, and 12p deletion, presented with progressive right proptosis and diplopia for 1 week. Orbital CT revealed a homogenously enhancing, orbital mass engulfing the inferior rectus muscle. Histopathology revealed myeloid sarcoma for which she underwent external beam radiotherapy. Subsequently, there was no sign of local recurrence, but she succumbed to leukemia involving the central nervous system. This is the first case, to the authors' knowledge, of an orbital sarcoma of FAB M1 myeloblasts bearing a 12p deletion.

Myeloid sarcoma (MS) involving the breast is rare. We reviewed a case of a 21-year-old female with palpable masses in the bilateral breasts without medullary acute myeloid leukemia. Ultrasound revealed irregular, indistinct, and complex hypoechoic masses with internal blood flow and hyperechoic halos in the bilateral breasts. This case report describes the case of a man in his seventies presenting with a nasopharyngeal deposit of myeloid sarcoma associated with acute monomyelocytic leukaemia. He presented with right nasal obstruction associated with unilateral pulsatile tinnitus. CT and MRI scans of sinuses identified a moderately restricting mucosal swelling of the right torus tubarius, and a biopsy of the lesion diagnosed a nasal deposit of myeloid sarcoma.

Vulvar malignancies are rare and have diverse origins and presentations. The majority of these tumors are squamous cell carcinoma.
