PURPOSE: This study aims to comprehensively examine the determinants of depression among urban older adults in Seoul, utilizing the social-ecological model to address multifaceted influences.
METHODS: A comprehensive analysis was conducted using data from the 2022 Seoul Aging Survey, which surveyed 2,914 individuals aged 65 and above. A multiple logistic regression analysis was performed to identify factors contributing to depressive symptoms, including socio-demographic characteristics, health behaviors and status, research accessibility, social support, and environmental influences.

OBJECTIVE: Approval rates for first-time applications for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) among adults who are homeless can be as low as 10%. This study examined approval rates among applicants who were assisted by SSI/SSDI Outreach, Access, and Recovery (SOAR), a federal initiative to increase access to disability benefits among people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and who have mental illness or other co-occurring disorders.

BACKGROUND: Prior to blindness, trachoma is thought to profoundly affect women's abilities to lead normal lives, but supporting evidence is lacking. To better understand the effects of trichiasis, we asked women to define quality of life, how trichiasis affects this idea and their perceptions of eyelid surgery.
METHODS: Operated and unoperated women were purposively selected for in-depth interviews. These were audio-recorded and transcribed, and codes were identified and applied to the transcripts. Overarching themes, commonalities and differences were identified and matched to quotations.

Snoring is a common problem, which may have widespread medical and social implications. This is particularly true in the setting of the armed forces where snoring may have significant effects in terms of personal performance, social interaction and security. This paper discusses the general management of snoring in the military environment and in particular the clinical effectiveness of one surgical procedure, uvulopalatopharyngoplasty. In this study, the procedure proves to be an effective surgical option in the management of snoring.
