PURPOSE: To analyse the efficacy of paired arcuate incisions and compression sutures technique in the management of post penetrating keratoplasty (PK) astigmatism.

INTRODUCTION: Following Simpson Grade 1 excision of large convexity meningioma there is often a need for synthetic dural substitutes.
DISCUSSION: One problem with some of these grafts is that they lack tensile strength when wet and therefore sink into the cavity left following removal of the meningioma.
CONCLUSION: A simple method to prevent 'sinking' or sagging of such synthetic dural grafts is described and illustrated.

To prevent distraction and varus deformity between the humeral head and shaft, tension band sutures placed between the head of the interlocking screw and the rotator cuff, and we recommend using nonabsorbable sutures. Postpartum atony remains the most common cause life-threatening haemorrhage in obstetrics. In a case of postpartum atony unresponsive to medical treatment after Caesarean section haemorrhage was controlled and satisfactory uterine tonus was achieved by inverted sutures of the uterine fundus. Imminent hysterectomy could thus be avoided.

Little is known about the strength of suture lines and stapled closures of the bronchus, pulmonary arteries, and pulmonary veins. This experiment tested and compared the hydrostatic leakage point of each of these structures when closed by either sutures or staples.
