In order to assess immunity to rubella in Izmir, Turkey, a total of 600 persons of 1-70 years of age were selected with cluster sampling. Of the 597 subjects, 120(20.1%) was susceptible to the rubella according to their serum antibody levels. Of children 1 to 6 years of age, 50.9% was found to be serologically susceptible to rubella. SUBJECTS: The study involved 192 Turkish patients (41 female, 151 male) who had suffered SCI. The mean age of patients was 36.1+/-12.0 years. The mean follow-up time was 43.4+/-38.0 months. BACKGROUND: Recurrent spontaneous abortion is defined as at least three consecutive pregnancy losses, occurring in 10% of all pregnancies. In the etiology of recurrent spontaneous abortion, a wide variety of abnormalities, such as anatomic, endocrinologic, and genetic abnormalities, has been reported. The aim of this study was to compare karyotyping results of couples with recurrent spontaneous abortions. This may contribute to elucidating the genetic basis of this condition and warn physicians of the cytogenetic abnormalities in cases with recurrent spontaneous abortions.
