In laryngectomized patients a tracheo-esophageal artificial fistula can be used to achieve air flow from the trachea to the esophagus during speech. A one-way plastic valve is often used for the fistula. A free jejunal graft between the trachea and the esophagus can also be used. To avoid aspiration the transplant is attached to the submental area giving the graft a siphon-like shape. Personal experience in a case of ovarian cystoma (misunderstood to the patient herself) broken consequently to a car trauma and cause of an intracystic angiorrhagy and hemoperitoneum is presented. The advantages of videolaparoscopic technique both for the diagnosis formulation and for the surgical treatment are underlined and the use of this new technique is suggested due to its advantages such as quickness, mini-invasiveness and post-operation comfort.

This article describes a method for analyzing conversational difficulties and communication breakdown management in hearing-impaired adults and their communicative partners. The focus of the analysis is placed on the examination of conversational floor control, the proportion of repaired and nonrepaired communication breakdowns, and the strategies used by each member of the dyad to repair breakdowns. A case study illustrating the application of the procedure for aural rehabilitation is presented.

The use of edited videotape replay (which showed only "positive" behaviors) to improve the water skills of three spina bifida children, aged 5 to 10 years was examined. A multiple baseline across subjects design was used, and behavioral changes were observed to occur in close association with intervention. One child was given successive reapplications of videotaped self-modeling with continuing improvements. It appears that a useful practical technique has been developed.

UNLABELLED: Thirty fetuses with Down syndrome, who had detailed fetal echocardiography and sonography at the tertiary center with videotape recordings, were retrospective analyzed by one observer with a specially prepared flow sheet. We studied clinical and EEG manifestations of absence seizures (AS) in children with Dravet syndrome (DS) to clarify their characteristic features and differences from those of typical AS (TAS).
