This systematic review and meta-analysis sought to explore the prevalence of sexual violence including both sexual harassment and abuse, perpetrated by clients against home healthcare workers (HCWs), including professional and paraprofessional HCWs. To this end, we systematically searched five relevant databases. Two reviewers extracted data from the included studies independently and performed a quality appraisal. Overall and subgroup random-effects pooled prevalence meta-analyses were performed. Due to high heterogeneity, a more robust model using a quality effect estimator was used. Fourtee

BACKGROUND: Workplace violence (WPV) against healthcare workers is known as violence in healthcare settings and referring to the violent acts that are directed towards doctors, nurses or other healthcare staff at work or on duty. BACKGROUND: Workplace violence and aggression are escalating in emergency departments (EDs) globally, yet the self-reported psychological and behavioural responses in clinicians to such stressors remain underexplored. Trauma theory conceptualises stress responses as fight, flight, freeze, and fawn (4Fs); but how these responses manifest in ED staff before, during and after violent incidents has received limited empirical attention.
METHODS: This mixed-methods study analysed data collected between 2019 and 2023 across four emergency departments within one Australian local health district. Data…

BACKGROUND: Workplace violence against healthcare workers (HCWPV) is a global public health and occupational hazard, endangering staff physical/psychological well-being and public health security. China faces strained doctor-patient relations and frequent HCWPV yet its legal framework lacks occupational safety and health (OSH) oriented regulations. The International Labour Organization (ILO)'s Violence and Harassment Convention (C190) and Recommendation (R206) provide an internationally recognized normative benchmark, structured around a three-pillar approach: defining and prohibiting violence…

Late clinical referrals in low-resource setting paediatrics lead to high childhood mortality and cause disabilities. This issue becomes even worse in settings where the public health system is overloaded owing to the lack of staff and proper resources. Where an inability to deliver timely healthcare results, the frustration of parents often leads to aggression towards healthcare professionals working on the frontlines. This report analyses the connection between late presentations, systemic issues with resources and insecurity of healthcare workers.

METHODS: This review followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines. PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, an…
