Failure of glaucoma surgery is mostly due to fibrocellular scar formation, derived from Tenon's capsule fibroblasts. In high-risk cases, postoperative Tenon's capsule fibroblast proliferation is inhibited by mitomycin C or 5-fluorouracil.
