OBJECTIVE: This study proposed to evaluate the efficacy of color Doppler sonography in detecting possible differences in blood flow patterns between malignant and benign cervical lymph nodes.
SUBJECTS AND METHODS: During a period of 12 months, the palpable cervical lymph nodes of 48 untreated patients were prospectively evaluated with color Doppler sonography and Doppler flow wave analysis. We examined an antibody against Ki-1 antigen in 161 cases of malignant lymphoma, four of histiocytic sarcoma, and six of nonspecific lymphadenitis, using monoclonal antibody Ki-1, which is known to react selectively with activated lymphocytes, Reed-Sternberg cells, and Hodgkin's cells. BACKGROUND: Recurrent tonsillitis is a common indication for tonsillectomy in children and has phenotypic overlap with periodic fever, aphthous stomatitis, pharyngitis, and cervical adenitis (PFAPA) syndrome. We sought to characterize symptoms associated with PFAPA among children undergoing tonsillectomy.
METHODS: Parents/guardians of children undergoing tonsillectomy at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital over a six-week period were queried regarding symptoms of recurrent fever. Follow-up questionnaires were administered 3 and 12 months after tonsillectomy.

PURPOSE: Few case reports have described vaso-occlusive retinopathy in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) using optical coherence tomography (OCT) angiography. Here we report the clinical features of a patient with SLE, complicated by Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease, who developed vaso-occlusive retinopathy. Results of treatment in 2000-2016 yrs of 183 patients for the neck phlegmon were analyzed. In 60 (32.8%) of them a descending purulent mediastinitis (DPM) was diagnosed. The main causes of the DPM occurrence were tonsilogenic and odontogenous factors. Postoperative lethality in DPM have constituted 25%.
