Epidemiology and associated risk factors for injuries in collegiate cheerleading: a systematic review.

CONTEXT: Collegiate cheerleading is a physically demanding sport with high rates of injuries. However, existing injury surveillance is limited, outdated, and inconsistent, underscoring the need to synthesize available evidence to guide prevention strategies. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the epidemiology and risk factors for injuries in collegiate cheerleading by synthesizing evidence on injury rates, mechanisms, and types. DATA SOURCES: Eight electronic databases (PubMed, Embase, Web of Science CORE, Web of Science COMPLETE, Science Direct, OMNI, SPORTDiscus, MEDLINE, and CINAHL) were searched

Tractor-related injuries: an analysis of workers' compensation data.

Previous studies have reported that tractors are responsible for high proportions of fatal and nonfatal agricultural injuries. However, many common and preventable risk factors, conditions, and associated costs related to tractor-related injuries have not been investigated. This case-based study used workers' compensation data to investigate tractor-related injuries. The objectives of this study were to (1) identify and describe tractor-related injuries, (2) assess medical and indemnity costs associated with tractor-related injuries, and (3) determine contributing factors associated with those

Injury Incidence Rate According to Mechanism, Body Location, and Type in Basketball Players: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

BACKGROUND: Despite the strong research attention dedicated to reporting the injury incidence rate (IR) in many samples of basketball players, a dedicated review regarding the epidemiology of the injuries encountered in the sport is needed. OBJECTIVE: We aimed to meta-analyze the literature to quantify the IR of injuries according to mechanism, body location, and type while considering player sex, playing level, and exposure settings in basketball players. METHODS: PubMed, MEDLINE, and Google Scholar were searched from inception to October 2024. Studies reporting the injury IR in basketball

Epidemiology of time-loss injuries within an Australian male professional football club: A 5-year prospective observational study of 21,343 player hours.

This study aimed to establish injury incidence rates (IIRs) and burden within an Australian male professional football club (n = 73) and to investigate longitudinal trends across five consecutive seasons (2016/17-2020/21). There was an overall IIR of 9.18 injuries per 1000 hours (h) (95% CI [7.89, 10.47]). The IIR was approximately seven times greater (rate ratio (RR): 6.85; 95% CI [5.13, 9.19]; p < 0.01) in matches (31.29 injuries per 1000 h; 95% CI [25.25, 37.33]) compared to training (4.49 injuries per 1000 h; 95% CI [3.51, 5.47]). Injuries Among Italian DanceSport Athletes: A Questionnaire Survey.

During training and competition, athletic dancers perform complex artistic movements that can lead to stress on the musculoskeletal system, making them subject to high risk of injury. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the prevalence, location, and nature of musculoskeletal injuries among dancesport athletes and to identify potential risk factors for injury. This cross-sectional study was performed at several national dancesport meetings in Italy. All 168 dancesport athletes who participated at the meetings were invited to complete a questionnaire related to injuries they may have suffe
