Topical Bimatoprost is a common and popular prostaglandin analog used as an ocular hypotensive agent in the treatment of glaucoma. Side effects include ocular hyperaemia, ocular pruritus, and periocular and iris pigmentary changes. Perioribital lipodystrophy is another well-documented outcome associated with chronic use of topical bimatoprost, which results in periorbital hallowing, upper eyelid sulcus deepening, eyelid retraction and enophthalmos. OBJECTIVE: To investigate if apraclonidine can effectively prevent the acute increase of intraocular pressure (IOP) in brown eyes with Nd:YAG laser iridectomy.
METHODS: 48 eyes with primary angle closure glaucoma were divided into treatment and control groups, which were matched by age and sex. One drop of apraclonidine was applied into the conjunctival sac at one hour before laser iridectomy and immediately after laser iridectomy in treatment group, whereas one drop of antibiotic as placebo was applied in control group at the same time. INTRODUCTION: John Thomas Woolhouse (1666-1733/1734), who practiced in Paris, was part of a family with 5 generations of English oculists. Some historians have derided him as a "charlatan" and have criticized him for adhering to the old notion that a cataract was a membrane anterior to the lens.

We describe nine patients who had phacomorphic or phacolytic glaucoma. After intraocular pressure (IOP) was reduced medically, all patients had extracapsular cataract extraction. All had intraocular lens implantation except one. The surgery improved visual acuity and resulted in normal IOP in all eyes.
