One of the rare tumors causing virilization are the lipid cell tumors which are mostly located in the ovaries. We report here on a 13 year old girl with virilization due to a lipid cell tumor of the broad ligament. The patient showed increased levels of testosterone, androstenedione and 17 alpha-hydroxyprogesterone while normal values of dehydroepiandrosterone, cortisol, estrogens E1 and E2, and gonadotropins were recorded. The endocrinological and histological pictures, as well as the diagnostic aspects will be discussed.

In order to test for biologically valid, direct communication between mouse adrenal tumor and porcine ovarian granulosa cells a method was needed for distinguishing the two cell types in culture. BACKGROUND: The long-term physiologic and oncologic outcomes of treatment for inferior vena cava (IVC) thrombosis in children with malignant abdominal tumors are unclear.
METHODS: We conducted a retrospective review of children with malignant IVC tumor thrombosis treated at our institution between January 1996 and December 2011. Extent of tumor thrombus was classified using the Hinman system. Disease stage, management, and oncologic and physiologic outcomes and complications were evaluated.

We report the case of a 68 year-old man in whom a tumour of the colon was identified by colonoscopy, during diagnostic studies for lower gastrointestinal bleeding as an outpatient. Histological examination showed clonal proliferation of plasma cells IgG-K. No other location was affected (including bone marrow). Diagnosis of plasmacytoma of the colon was made. We have carried out a review of the literature in relation to this unusual disorder.

A great majority of adrenocortical tumors are benign, and many adrenocortical carcinomas (ACC) are obviously malignant at presentation. The histopathological diagnosis of ACC is occasionally difficult, particularly with stage I and stage II disease. The prognosis of ACC is generally poor. Surgery is the major treatment, with chemotherapy and radiotherapy being applicable to only restricted patients. The Weiss criteria are useful in diagnosing the common adult type of ACC. We compared histomorphological features and molecular expression profiles of adrenocortical adenomas (ACAd) and carcinomas (ACCa). A 23-year-old woman was referred to our center with hirsutism, acne, weight gain, weakness, and irregular menses. Laboratory tests revealed increased levels of cortisol and sex hormones, and reduced adrenocorticotropic hormone levels. The patient underwent a right adrenalectomy.
