Single-Cell Insights into Medicinal Plant Development and Metabolism.

Medicinal plants are major sources of therapeutic natural products, yet the cell-type-specific organization that governs metabolite biosynthesis, transport, and storage remains imperfectly resolved by organ-level omics. This review synthesizes studies published up to June 2026 that used single-cell, single-nucleus, spatial, metabolomic, and epigenomic approaches to medicinal plant systems, following a PRISMA-guided literature search across PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, and CNKI. Emerging evidence shows that specialized metabolism is organized through discrete and often rare cell populations,

Lightweight and High-Strength Sandwich Panels: Materials, Core Architectures, Manufacturing, Mechanical Performance, Multifunctionality and Future Perspectives.

Lightweight and high-strength sandwich panels are used across aerospace, transportation, marine, energy, civil and protective systems because large face separation can provide high flexural rigidity and specific load capacity at low mass. This review treats the panel as a coupled material-structure-interface-process system rather than ranking core topology in isolation. A scoping-review workflow was updated to 24 July 2026 and yielded a curated evidence corpus of 112 total references. The review reports the search and screening logic explicitly, uses descriptive rather than field-wide bibliome

Biomaterials in Tissue Regeneration Following Surgically Induced Bile Duct Injuries: A Systematic Review.

OBJECTIVE: Bile duct injury (BDI) following cholecystectomy represents a significant surgical complication, often associated with hepatobiliary dysfunction, increased morbidity, and the need for complex reconstruction. Advances in tissue engineering and biomaterials have introduced novel strategies aimed at bile duct regeneration. This systematic review evaluates current evidence on biomaterial-based approaches for the treatment of BDI in experimental animal models. METHODS: A systematic search was conducted between October 2025 and January 2026 in PubMed, Web of Science, and Ovid, following

Artificial Intelligence-predicted Outcomes of Breast Reconstruction: Progress, Pitfalls, and Path Forward.

BACKGROUND: Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly being applied across medical disciplines to enhance clinical decision-making. However, its use in plastic and reconstructive surgery remains early in development. This review consolidates existing literature to evaluate how AI is specifically being implemented to predict breast reconstruction (BR) outcomes, identify current limitations, and outline priorities for clinical translation. METHODS: A literature search was conducted using PubMed and Scopus databases to identify studies published between 2015 and 2025 that applied AI or machin

Can Scorpion Venom Peptides Be Safely Used in Cardiovascular Therapy: A Systematic Review.

Scorpion venom contains numerous bioactive peptides with potent cardiovascular effects, including bradykinin-potentiating peptides (BPPs), ion channel modulators, and cardioprotective molecules. These peptides show promise for conditions such as hypertension, cardiac injury, and arrhythmias. However, concerns regarding toxicity, immunogenicity, and off-target actions have limited their clinical development. This systematic review evaluates the therapeutic potential and safety of scorpion venom peptides for cardiovascular applications. A systematic search of PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar, and

Advances in Materials and Technologies for Cranioplasty: A Narrative Review.

OBJECTIVE: Cranioplasty is a key reconstructive procedure for restoring cranial integrity, protecting intracranial structures, and enhancing neurological, psychological, and aesthetic outcomes after skull defects. At present, the selection of repair material remains clinically challenging, given that no single material comprehensively fulfills the requirements of mechanical stability, biocompatibility, osseointegration, imaging compatibility, infection resistance, cost-effectiveness, and long-term safety. METHODS: This narrative review was based on a targeted literature search of Google Schol

Stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles -mediated bone regeneration: mechanisms, targeted delivery, and clinical perspectives in promoting angiogenesis.

Angiogenesis is indispensable for bone regeneration and tightly coupled to osteogenesis, yet inadequate vascularization remains a common cause of repair failure in critical-sized defects, compromised fractures, and osteochondral lesions. Conventional growth-factor delivery and cell transplantation rarely reproduce the spatiotemporal vascular program required for functional healing, motivating the search for controllable and translatable alternatives. Mesenchymal stem/stromal cell (MSC)-derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) have emerged as a modular, cell-free modality that packages regenerative

Interspecies Blastocyst Complementation and the Genesis of Chimeric Solid Human Organs.

Solid organ transplantation remains a life-saving treatment for patients worldwide. Unfortunately, the supply of donor organs cannot meet the current need, making the search for alternative sources even more essential. Xenotransplantation using sophisticated genetic engineering techniques to delete and overexpress specific genes in the donor animal has been investigated as a possible option. However, the use of exogenous tissue presents another host of obstacles, particularly regarding organ rejection. Given these limitations, interspecies blastocyst complementation in combination with precise

20-minute neighbourhoods, criticisms, conspiracy theories, and health: a critical discourse analysis.

BACKGROUND: 20-minute neighbourhoods (20MNs) and other proximity-based urban planning models are argued to improve communities, enhance population health, and reduce inequities. However, these links remain unevidenced. Conversely, there are science-driven criticisms that 20MNs could exacerbate health/social inequities requiring evaluation. These models have also resulted in conspiracy theories, believed to be linked to COVID-19 public health measures, which may hinder the implementation and evaluation of 20MNs and any expected health/inequity gains. AIM: The aim of this research is to better
