The preliminary experience of the first Italian program of pediatric intestinal transplantation is presented herein. A multidisciplinary group with broad experience in pediatric solid organ transplantation started the program. Nine children with complications of chronic intestinal failure were listed for transplantation. One child died on the waiting list; one received an isolated liver transplantation; three isolated intestinal; three multivisceral; and one, a combined liver/intestine transplantation. PURPOSE: To evaluate percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA) in the treatment of visceral ischemia.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: Over a 14-year period, 25 focal visceral artery stenoses were treated with PTA in 16 patients with acute or chronic visceral ischemia. Thirteen patients were women and three were men, with a mean age of 64.7 years (range, 54-79 years). Cutaneous T cell lymphomas (CTCLs) are a heterogeneous group of debilitating, incurable malignancies. Mycosis fungoides (MF) and Sézary syndrome (SS) are the most common subtypes, accounting for ~65% of CTCL cases. Patients with advanced disease have a poor prognosis and low median survival rates of four years. Two strains of Gram-positive cocci were isolated from viscera of common voles (Microtus arvalis Pallas) with generalized Brucella microti infection in the Czech Republic.
