BACKGROUND: Pancreatic duct stents are used for a variety of endoscopic pancreatic manipulations, and small surgical stents are used prophylactically to bridge pancreatic-enteric anastomoses. With increasing use of pancreatic stents, many complications have been recognized.
OBJECTIVE: To determine the complications and outcomes of pancreatic stent migration.
DESIGN: Case series from a retrospective review of all cases of upstream or proximally migrated pancreatic duct stents, placed either endoscopically or surgically, identified between 2000 and 2007.

Late complications of ureteral stents are frequent, and longer indwelling times are associated with an increased frequency of complications. Although there are reports of various complications of long-term indwelling ureteral stents, a renocolic fistula secondary to a perinephric abscess resulting from an indwelling ureteral stent has not been reported. Here, we present a fatal case of a renocolic fistula secondary to a perinephric abscess caused by an encrusted forgotten double J stent in a functionally solitary kidney.

Embolized intracardiac foreign bodies have been previously described in the literature. Those related to iatrogenic procedures, such as catheters and pacemaker electrodes, are the most common. However, traumatic embolization of a metal foreign body is scantily described. We report a case of a peripheral venous embolized intracardiac metal foreign body after traumatic elbow injury. A review of the literature is therefore performed. Intracardiac foreign body removal must be considered when its diameter exceeds 5 mm, its shape is irregular or when symptomatic.

Two patients with pseudoexfoliation syndrome (PEX) in whom late spontaneous in-the-bag intraocular lens (IOL) and capsular tension ring (CTR) dislocation occurred 3 and 6 years after cataract surgery are described. We report a case of symptomatic hydronephrosis caused by transcaval penetration of a Bird's Nest filter. Perforation of the wall of the inferior vena cava (IVC) following insertion of a caval filter is a well-recognized complication. Whilst two cases of hydronephrosis have been described with Greenfield filters, no case involving a Bird's Nest filter has been reported previously.

PURPOSE: To evaluate factors related to late-onset transscleral sutured posterior chamber intraocular lens (TSIOL) subluxation.
METHODS: Retrospective observational case series. Analysis of subluxated TSIOLs in seven eyes from seven patients treated between May 1999 and May 2001.
RESULTS: Mean age at the time of TSIOL surgery was 33 +/- 6 years. Mean time from TSIOL surgery to its subluxation was 78 +/- 19 months.
