The directional polarimetric camera (DPC) onboard GaoFen-5(02) satellite provides critical observational data for global aerosol and cloud monitoring. Treatment of infections by beta-lactamase-producing microorganisms is very difficult. Our aim was to determine the in vitro susceptibility of 430 ESBL-positive Escherichia coli strains isolated from urinary tract infections. All the microorganisms were isolated in the Microbiology Unit at the Ospedale dell'Angelo in Mestre (Venice) between May 2008 and September 2009 and were confirmed by the double-disk test. An epidemic of interstitial pneumonia principally involving premature infants occurred in Germany and nearby European countries between the 1920s and 1960s. Fatalities were due to Pneumocystis. Because the principal defenses against Pneumocystis are T cells, an acquired T-cell deficiency was postulated. A number of potential causes including malnutrition were considered. Amplification of human immunoglobulin has many potential applications such as analysis of clonality, isolation of immunogenic antigens and antigen-specific immunotherapy. Here we describe a method for amplification of human immunoglobulin heavy and light chains from single B lymphocytes or plasma cells. Cells are isolated by FACS, and Ig is amplified by semi-nested RT-PCR. The method is versatile, sensitive and reliable: it provides appropriately paired heavy and light chains, requiring as little as 2 days to produce amplified Fab DNA from human tissues.
