AIM: To investigate the current management trend in blebitis among glaucoma consultants registered with the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (London).
METHOD: An anonymous survey consisting of 13 questions to ascertain blebitis management was posted to the glaucoma consultants. A χ(2) test was used to analyse the correlation patterns among respondents' answers to the questionnaire.

PURPOSE: To report 2 cases of corneal edema, haze, and thinning in patients after undergoing selective laser trabeculopasty.
METHODS: Selective laser trabeculoplasty was performed for the treatment of primary open-angle glaucoma on 2 patients who subsequently developed corneal stromal haze within 24 to 48 hours of the procedure.
RESULTS: The patients were treated with topical steroids for several weeks. Although their corneal edema resolved, both patients were left with residual corneal scarring and thinning. One patient had a significant hyperopic shift.

PURPOSE: Persistent hypotony with maculopathy is a severe complication of mitomycin C when used during filtration surgery. We wanted to know whether this complication can be controlled by a surgical reintervention yielding tight closure of the initial sclerostomy.
METHOD: In our clinic, 52 eyes underwent filtering surgery with intraoperative application of mitomycin C. Seven of them required a reoperation owing to persistent hypotony with maculopathy. During this reoperation, the scleral flap was tightly sutured (5x) or, if necessary, was closed with dehydrated human dura mater (2x).

Intraoperative mitomycin C has been shown to be highly effective in increasing the success rate of glaucoma filtration surgery. Sixty-one patients (82 eyes) were studied after argon laser trabeculoplasty (ALT) to determine the lasting efficacy of such treatment. This investigation, now in its fourth year, was prospective, and the information derived was analysed with the aid of a computer.
