BACKGROUND/AIMS: We analyzed perioperative and long-term postoperative data to determine the effectiveness of laparoscopic subtotal cholecystectomy (LSC).
METHODOLOGY: 89 LSCs done at our center were classified into 3 groups according to the operative procedure required to treat severe cholecystitis. Perioperative and long-term postoperative results were then compared with standard laparoscopic cholecystectomy (s-LC).

INTRODUCTION: The goals of colonoscopy are changing over time and it is important to regularly determine if endoscopists are achieving key performance indicators.
METHODS: Data on key performance indicators were recorded independently by nursing staff for all colonoscopies performed during a 10-year period. The results were discussed at regular meetings and feedback given to endoscopists.

BACKGROUND: Tubal sterilization is one of the most important surgical techniques for sterilization. There is a dilemma for women who wish to undo this procedure in the choice between tubal reversal or in vitro fertilization (IVF).
PATIENTS AND METHODS: In this retrospective cohort study, 134 patients who had had tubal sterilization previously and wished to have another child were enrolled in this study. Primary outcome was clinical pregnancy. The outcomes of 58 women who had had laparoscopic unilateral tubal reversal (Group 1) were compared with those of 76 women who had had IVF (Group 2).

AIM OF THIS STUDY: to report our results in a large series of patients with chronic pilonidal sinus (PS) at long term follow up.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Two hundred sixteen patients underwent excision and rhomboid flap transposition (RFT) from 1986 to 2004 for PS, and followed for more than two years. Rats were tested using a lever pressing/feeding procedure in which a preferred food (Bioserve pellets) was available by pressing a lever on a fixed ratio 5 schedule, but a less preferred food (lab chow) was also available concurrently in the operant chamber.
